i'm simon mccoy.ack at manchester arena last may. 22 people — many of them children — were killed in a suicide bomb attack. families and friends of those who died, as well as survivors, politicians and the duke of cambridge attended the service at manchester cathedral. my colleague annita mcveigh is there. simon, thank you very much. good afternoon from manchester. around 800 people attended the hour long service at manchester cathedral prince william and the prime minister theresa may are still in there, about an hour after the service ended, talking to bereaved relatives and survivors of the attack on the 22nd of may last year. during the service we saw 22 candles on the altar lit in memory of the victims. those candles, interestingly, made from the wax of the candles left by members of the public in the saint and's square in the days after the attack. —— saint anne ‘s square. there was another candle. that we were told is for those who are left behind. we heard from two students during the service.
