let's go live now to simon mcgregor-wood, who joins us from amsterdam. no doubt, a sombre mood in netherlands. take us through the event of the memorial. >> well, this is the principal national memorial for flight mh17, which, as you say, was such a - it was an extraordinary connection to the dutch nation, given the huge number relatively speaking of victims who were dutch. it will take place here at this conference center on the outskirts of amsterdam. it will be started by the dutch prime minister and be attended by the king and queen. there'll be 1600 relatives of the dutch victims in attendance. several of them will read out, which will be the most moving part of the ceremony, all 298 names of those aboard mh17, who perished, and then the event will close with a minute's silence, and the sounding of the last post. it will no doubt be an extremely emotional event. it is hoped also an opportunity for the relatives of the dutch victims to come together and find some soltice for what will be a national stage. >> as you say, a lot of families, and those t

simon mcgregor wood has more from amsterdam. >> it was an extremely emotional event. yes, the dutch king and queen and various dignitaries were all in attendance but this was really a take for the 196 victims relatives. to say it was extremely emotional, the center piece was the reading out of the 298 names of all those passengers and crew who lost their lives on mh 17. in the center of the auditorium youight have been able to see white candles each one for the 298 victims. so i think this was all about grieving. about prime minister mark rute saying, reshur reassuring them e not alone. despite their best efforts, the investigation has still not begun, dutch investigators have attempted but fighting has started yet again. of course this idea of justice finding out who did it, bringing them to justice, bringing a criminal prosecution against those who are responsible for this tragedy is as far away today as it ever was. >> now as tensions rise between russia and nato over ukraine, a think tank describes, a highly reserving patent of violations, 40 in the past eight mon

let's go to simon mcgregor-wood. how is it going so far. >> well, the pope has been warmly welcomed here on tuesday morning. the relationship between the european union, priding itself on the secular nature. they have had run ins in the past, issues concerning the catholic doctrine which this pope is signing up to. the speech, according to pope, is designed to bring a message of hope, designed to bring europeans who by their own admission are in somewhat of a crisis, and a question of mistrust with the voter. the pope is here to help. i have a copy of the speech which the pope is less than halfway through. he pulls no punches and is critical of what europe has become, calling it elderly and haggard. widely mistrusted and talks about the need to put human dignity and a sense of the transcendent, europe trying to reconnect with its religious roots as you expect from a pope. a hard message, talking about a need to put a human being at the center of things, talking about how people need help with work, work with dignity
