john rawlins joins us live from skippack township with the details. >> reporter: hi, rick, the latest briefing we had was 73 of the homes folks can go back if they wish. it started from reports with neighbors with a an odor. firefighters came and determined there was something in the basement. they have taken additional samples and sent them to the labs, and the results should come in this afternoon. late sunday afternoon, courtney logan felt light headed and noticed a strong odor in the basement. >> i brought the kids out an when i want back in i noticed it was bad. we called 911. >> reporter: arriving firefighters using air tests picked up hired -- hydrocarbon readings. initial reports of low level of hydrogen cyanide have been dismissed. water is being tested. in the meantime authorities are allowing residents to return to homes that did not test positive today. as to what is going on -- >> honestly it would be pure speculation. the substance in the sump pump pit tested pose did i -- pose pe for a hydrocarbon. >> reporter: they are hoping to get results by late this afternoon then
