things are back up and running near at phoenix sky harbor. you can see the pickup line is pretty long right now, that's because those flights are coming in right now but everything is running smoothly. but just for a little while, they had to briefly suspend operations tonight due to that dust storm. now tha out, this place is back up and running like a well oiled machine. the national weather service expired the dust warning for the greater phoenix area just about two hours ago, but at one point during the height of it visibility was reduced to under a quarter of a mile. that dust storm blanketed several phoenix and east valley cities of tempe, chandler, mesa, gilbert and apache junction. we are told by folks from the airport that from 6:08 to 6:23 of sky harbor, with some flights getting diverted to las vegas or tuscon. we spoke to one man waiting for his traveling wife that he has been waiting here for three hours. >> she was supposed to land at 5:02 from charlotte, but got diverted by the dust storm in tuscon, and she just landed, finally

sky harbor action, the storms coming down from the north. lightning strikes around lightning in the valley. the strongest activity is on the northwest side of town. you see the reds and yellows and the storm will continue to track across neighborhoods into glendale, portions of peoria and surprise. now into scottsdale and near tempe. that is where the strongest thunderstorm is. we will track this for you, but if you get under one of those storms can be treacherous in terms of heavy downpour and reduced visibility. that can cause problems along with lightning strikes. there is a weather aviation there is a blowing dust advisory in effect until 7 pm. especially if you travel down interstate especially if you travel down interstate 10. that is a problem area when a blowing dust gets in the open area to the south. by the way, estimated rainfall totals are heavy in some areas. post a 1 inch in the northwestern side of the valley. we will come back with more details on the forecast for >>> most of the heaviest rain in north phoenix. that is where

we only picked inch of rain in sky harbor. pretty much, once the morning started to settle in, everything cleared out and here's the look tonight. we don't see anything happening out there on the radar. even if you widen it up. there is nothing brewing which is different from last night. at least we had some weather that was brewing. if you look up to the north though, we have a little bit of moisture that is moving in significance. we should be quiet here in the valley. you can see the showers kind of fading away there in the northeast part of the state. so, our futurecast is showing that moisture is going to be thinning out for us here in the lower deserts for tomorrow. an even as we head into thursday. by friday, we will see the moisture surge back up from the southeast and that will kick in chances of rain once again for friday and then possibly better chances as we head into saturday. meanwhile, the temperatures are going to stay below normal. so 97 to 101. mostly sunny skies tonight will be partly cloudy with temperature
