skyforce 10 was over what's left of the home late this afternoon. the wall of flames woke up neighbors near pittman avenue this morning. they watched in horror as the home that skood for decades was destroyed in a matter of minutes. nbc 10's deanna durante is learning new details about the victim in all of this. she joins us in collingdale. deanna? >> reporter: you talk about that 65-year-old grandfather. take a look at the house where people believe he was still sleeping in when it caught on fire and family members of that man tonight are urging people to check their smoke detectors. the fire department says that by the time they got the call, this house was burning from the ground all the way to the third floor. it went up fast. >> i hoped the front door and you could just feel the heat. my car was in front of his house. couldn't even touch the doorknob it was that hot. just floored my car down the street. >> people who live here say the house went up so quickly. there wasn't time for anyone to try and save the retired postal worker who lived here
