karen wynne joins us with our skywatch forecast. >> karen: frank, hard to believe that a week ago today we were digging out from a foot of snow in many parts of the mountains. the snow was coming down also on many parts of the mountains. now we're looking at a day where many people topped out in the 60s. mid 60s in andrews. asheville, we actually made it up to 56. hendersonville, the high 53. right now we are quite mild for this time of year. 54 in franklin. lower 50s in the foothills. it's a little cooler in morganton, newland, of course, at 44 degrees. winds are all over the place right now. areas like in greer and also asheville. but the wind should come down as we go through the evening on in to the overnight. the evening planner in the mountains, go ahead and take that jacket with you. with the sun going down, we're going to cool down quickly. 42 degrees at 11. a quick look at the upstate. coming up, an even warmer second half of the weekend. >> frank: local cooks go head to head in asheville with the irit of mardi gras. the dishes will be open in the annual kajun cookoff. it raise

meteorologist zack green joins us with our skywatch forecast. zack, how much snow can we expect? >> zack: not a whole lot but certainly something we're going to monitor. in the higher elevations about 3500 feet looking at about two inches. there's an advisory that's going to be put in to effectct until tomorrow. right now things are quiet around the mountains. that cloud cover already starting to roll through from the southwest. this is all ahead of a cold front. but there's a bigger system that's going to be spinning in some of the moisture and precipitation. we're seeing that down in to the gulf. that's going to actually bring it in from the southwest. it's going to have a convergence of an air mass coming with it. it is reserved for those in western north carolina. the upstate, i do think is the majority of the day on sunday. as i mentioned, it's a short window. that advisory is going to expire at noon time. we are looking at clear conditions of high pressure. that is expected to bring in very chilly air as we kick off our work week. the majority of the issue is certainly goin

definition, this is your news 13 skywatch forecast. >>zack: welcome back. good sunday morning to you all. looking at clear conditions across the board. we have not heard those words for a few days. after a lot of snowfall, not going to be the case this morning. but, still a few flakes flying around the highest elevations. the brunt of the storm now moves far off to the north and east but not without leaving devastating impacts from dc all the way up through new york city. delaware as well as new jersey, parts of virginia getting absolutely devastated with extreme snowfall. not going to be the case today. the flurries are now pushed off and for those in western north carolina it's the cold icy and blowing snow conditions that we are going to still be dealing with. take a look at the temperatures. we are in the single digits right now in morgue and asheville is 18 degrees but the winds are whipping around. we saw gusts at 40 miles per hour yesterday. i think we will will be hovering around wind at 10 miles per hour but you see it sustain
