you have a current democratic house member, alyssa slotkin, running against a former republican houser, mike rogers. could that affect that race? chad: absolutely. they are both pretty hawkish, pro-israel. they are, on paper, from a national security perspective, the exact same candidate. he used to be an fbi agent, she used to be a cia agent. whether she gets penalized by the arab and muslim voters of the state for it, is kind of what is the big unknown right now. john: democrats in michigan are trying to hold onto two open house seats, including one that slotkin is giving up. both of those races are rated as tossup spirit tell us about those races. chad: this is a race between tom berry, the republin who lost to slotkin by three or four points two years ago. and curtis junior who is a democrat and longtime politician in michigan. this is a race that is not. it is another race where the electric vehicle transition is on the ballot. lansing as an auto town has two gm plants. the future of one of those plants is pretty much in doubt right now. democrats are trying to use this as an iss

rachel: the latest polling in michigan, by the way, your opponent, slotkin, at 49%. you're at 46.ys this is even so close. when you talk about what this would do to the auto industry, i've been seeing even the muslim community not happy with kamala because she doesn't seem to know what she's going to do there. st sort of like she's talking out of both sides of her mouth. is cha's -- what's happening and why is it close? >> well, and our internals have it closer, candidly. with who things, one, we have, i think, an undpreptsed ground game in the state, probably the best in the country. just last weekend we hit 40,000 doors across the state of michigan. a huge impact. that's' what's keeping us in the race. talking about real issues. the ev mandate is going to kill the auto companies. think about the ev mandates that have already happened and remember there's a 5-year planning cycle for these automobiles. stellantis just announced 2400 layoffs, general motors, 1,000. ford said they had a chargeoff which means they lost $5 billion in their ev division. finish people don't want to buy

alyssa slotkin is carrying the state of michigan, you noted she had trump and her ads, she is runningnow she is saying i live on a dirt road, i can't have an ev so i will let you get whatever car you want but she voted for the ev mandate. rachel: we were discussing the endorsement by this mayor in michigan, tell us what that means, is that an isolated case? what are you seeing in the arab american community? is that important and could swing things are donald trump? >> absolutely. what we are seeing is there's kind of two factions in the arab american community one of which is saying they want to stay home, don't want to vote for either and the other is this group from yemen who is saying we want to support donald trump. if we have the arab american community come out and support donald trump in that way that is a huge change for the state of michigan, definitely a huge change for democrats in the state of michigan. also you have to remember these folks are listening when they mock religion as well. this is all about religious freedom. when we talk about the catholics, the catholics h

and what do you make of what slotkin said there also where she thinks there's this secret at vote of women that may change the outcome here look, this is a very potent issue here in michigan. >> in michigan, we codified abortion access in her state constitution via a ballot proposal in 2022, that collected more signatures than any ballot initiative in state history? so there's a sense among those who are plugged in that we have a lot to lose, especially given how hard we worked for this and hearing what congresswoman slotkin said, i think that's absolutely right. i've been canvassing all over the state, particularly in the metro detroit area, in some of our most marginal state house districts. so i've been down river south of detroit over and mccomb county and we hear this time and time again from women who say it's not even a question who they're voting for, they may not have a sign out because they don't want to be bullied by their neighbors, but are doors have been going incredibly well. and this is an issue that's definitely at the top of people's minds. >> do you think that the

alyssa slotkin is doing well, running ahead of kamala harris in that race ahead of former congressmanrs. that is one democrats are eyeing. if kamala harris has more of a problem nationally, alyssa slotkin could have a problem as well in michigan. amna: what about in montana? the best potential chance for republicans to flip a seat? lisa: it is. if republicans can't flip this seat, i think democrats will keep the senate for sure. this has been a tough race for democrats, and always has been for democrats, at least in modern times. jon tester is running against former navy seal and someone who is a businessman running a very good campaign. a lot of money in this race. in the debate earlier this week one of the big issues they brought up was immigration. here is how he went on the attack. >> i'm a pro immigration guy. i've welcomed dozens of folks here to work for our companies and brought friends in this country but coming the right way, legal is the right way to do it. we've seen happen last 3.5 years is a humanitarian disgrace, it's a national security disgrace. and the democrats chos
