the berliners donated this airplane, the smithsonian. this is the only existing berliner helicopter left. there's actually the history of this helicopter's virtually overlooked in most histories of aviation or a vertical flight. it's most a footnote. but it was the most advanced american prototype helicopter until sikorsky invented the helicopter in 1940. i wanted to point out some interesting aspects. so you can see our mannequin in the airplane and how close the propellers are to his head. surprisingly, no one was ever injured or killed in the experiments here. even though we have a photograph of a crash, was there a height limit? did they have to be particularly small? it was not that i'm aware of. so the the main inventor, henry berliner, was the main test pilot. we don't know why we don't he wasn't even a licensed conventional aircraft pilot. but he he was the one who tested most of his aircraft until he partnered with the military and got a professional military test pilot. this is we believe this is the. first helicopter to ever u
