earnings, value stocks were pretty flat and the growth stocks, the hyper growth stocks like square, snapchate on average up about 2%. now, do we see this continuing through the third quarter? we think third quarter's going to be choppy, particularly for tech. and as inflation kicks up, we do think if inflation is somewhat contained and kept under 5 a%, in the 3s and 4s, we think tech which tends to do better in the second part of the cycle, tends to do better. we're seeing tech under pressure today and yesterday but tech has generally done pretty well with earnings and the growth has been very strong. maria: keith, google employees are now facing a change in pay if they switch to working from home permanently. facebook and twitter have also cut pay for remote workers who moved to less expensive areas, they're looking at where they live and what the cost of living is there. your take on that and what it may mean for big tech. >> well, i think this is a very interesting headline that caught my attention but not for reasons you might expect. i think one, it's going to highlight which areas are
