the weight of the snow. again, this is a weighty type of snow.s not the dry kind that's real easy to sweep up after. we're not expecting much. for areas up around boston and rhode island today, this will be a major storm system, turning out to be a nor'easter for them with wind and snow. so the winter weather advisories up into new england for today. around here locally, still these advisories will stay up until during the afternoon hours. 5:00, 6:00. louden county, leesburg, a chance for snow for you. just over an inch. maybe just over an inch in montgomery county. snow up into baltimore. it's these areas way up to the north around hagerstown and martinsburg that could see 3, maybe 4 inches of snowfall as this system winds up and eventually leaves out of here around 4:00 today. look at that. the visibilities are dropping too. we're at 36 degrees. a little bit of a wind. your windchill, 32. windchill readings will really drop off tonight down into the 20s. it's going to be quite cold by the time we get to tomorrow morning. we're at 32 degrees in

everyone could see just a taste of some snow. and to the north and west of that two to three inches before the changeover to a wintery mix and rain. well outside of town, out towards garrett and allegheny counties, back towards washington county, could be five to 12 inches of snow. here's storm number one we're going to be dealing with today. how about storm number two? that could be a snow event for baltimore as we go into the weekend. take a look. coastal storm developing saturday afternoon. if it hangs closer to the coast, could be a significant storm that just -- that goes just offshore, well, not so significant. 42 today, 43 as we go into thursday. friday we'll go 42 with a blend of sunshine and clouds. storm number two arrives saturday mid morning into the afternoon hours. we'll be into the 30s. so we'll just keep an eye on that. we'll talk more about that coming up. but all in all this is a pretty chilly seven-day forecast and certainly active. let's get a check on traffic and lauren cook over in the traffic center. what i

on the back side of yesterday's snow event, now we're tracking lake-effect snow showers.ming downwind of the great lakes region, you can see those across central pennsylvania, a heavy band west of altoona and these are just creeping into southern pennsylvania, maybe york county sees a couple of flurries. we're not expecting accumulation here throughout the day. western maryland may see a couple of flurries but this shows how strong the winds are. a wider view showing the snow event from yesterday, spinning out into atlantic canada, bringing heavy snow in parts of maine and behind us we have strong winds producing lake-effect snow showers downwind of the great lakes into west virginia, pennsylvania, upstate new york, as well these areas could still have travel troubles today as the roads could be icy at times, especially if you travel through a snow band. we'll feel the effects of the winds on the back side of the storm. they're coming in out of the north and west today, 17 mile-per-hour sustained winds at the airport. gusts are stronger now. we have wind sustained at 18 i
