this didn't get quite as much as snowshoe. that's a real high elevation, but those pictures set you back a bit and so does this cold. we've had a little bit of light rain. i'll take you to radar, a couple sprinkles still showing up tonight, very light stuff especially just west of the city where you see that last little batch there, still getting showers from middleburg over to centreville moving through southern loudoun county into western fairfax and a little portion of prince william. all of this is from that same stubborn area of low pressure cut off from the jet stream that's been rotating over the mid-atlantic. i know a lot of you are ready for that thing to get out of here. it is going to get better. as we go through the week that cold cool aloft with the showers lingering cut off from the jet stream will get a bit of a move on and should drift out of the area tomorrow. we'll somewhat be under the influence of it tomorrow, but as this week goes on things are going to get a lot better and get ready for sunshine and a bea

snowshoe, west virginia, over the within picked up 9 inches of snow.hey're probably jumping for joy since this is obviously a great ski resort area. they picked up some of it late friday night, an additional 4 inches or so saturday, another inch yesterday. bayard west virginia had about an inch and i traveled up to northwestern pennsylvania where we saw a little bit on the rooftop. here is the problem. the jet stream has been allowing this area of low pressure, upper level low, we call it, to be removed from the jet stream and because it had nothing to steer it away, it kind of rearounded around the mid-atlantic -- meandered around the mid-atlantic and kept us in the soup from the showers, but it will get a kick this week from an area of high pressure that will be in certainly late tomorrow and definitely wednesday, sunny and dry conditions and guess what? it's going to last a number of days. you're in for a treat. tomorrow not bad, definitely warmer than today by some 13 degrees but still clouds around. we can't eliminate a spotty shower, especially i

we had our first snow reports in this weekend, some of the higher elevations of north carolina, snowshoe, west virginia had some college, state college, pennsylvania. they had snowflakes. it was a cool, chilly october weekend, especially in the great lakes. this morning, 46 in atlanta. it's actually colder in atlanta than our friends in boston and new york. it's a morning for the jacket, for yourself and for the kids. you need the umbrella up around detroit. pittsburgh has a chance of showers. same are erie, rochester, syracuse. later today, the big city also have a chance of showers. the time i was gone these last two weeks, we had the cut-off lows. you can see the spinning motion over west virginia. a cut-off low means the weather pattern is not changing soon. it's a slow transition. today will be a lot like yesterday from philadelphia to d.c. breaks of sunshine, cool and crisp. when the sun is out, it will feel warm. then showers later on this afternoon and this evening. thankfully the weather pattern will change. the middle of the country had a gorgeous weekend. it was in the 90s as

i was reading something that over the weekend, snowshoe, west virginia, we're talking about 4600 feet up, on saturday and sunday, picked up 8 inches of snow. i'm not kidding. garrett county, some areas had as much as an inch. that's all gone. 66 now. 68 in washington. 62 in ocean sea. -- city. 61 in cumberland. locally, mid-60s. it's a pleasant night. and the sun has finally come back out again. west/northwest winds, still a little breezy. it will continue probably tonight into tomorrow. and overnight, as the skies have cleared out. and the winds have died down a little bit. we may see a little patchy fog. low pressure that sat over virginia and gave us the cold temperatures and the rain this weekend. now, sitting over boston bay. somewhere up there in cape cod area. spinning around the boston area. it was causing rain up there to continue now, maine, new hampshire, into western massachusetts. that's pretty much the cutoff. for us, now we're getting in that dryer air. here comes the sunshine. beautiful weather on tap really well into early next week, hopefully. looks like it, at least
