governor rick snyder moments ago tweeted police have secured the scene. we heard from a witness bunkered down about a block aby from the courthouse. she said the entire town where this is happening was on lock down. let's get right to cnn's deborah feyerick who is reporting this for cnn. deb, it is late-break bug what can you tell us? what are local media reporting? >> reporter: what we know right now is michigan state police did secure the scene. it happened about 2:30 this afternoon. multiple people were shot. the courthouse was evacuated. witnesses say it may have happened inside the courthouse. right now it is unclear how many people were shot, and whether or not the police officer who was injured was the target or simply responding to what's been described as an active shooter. the area was on lock down. emergency crews are on scene. it is not clear whether the shooter has been taken into custody or essentially taken down. all of that is under investigation. the governor of the state is asking for prayers and calm. >> this is as good a time as any to
