so the broker induces them, agents as liaison and takes a percentage of that. in terms of defense contractors that's part of their business plan is to find vulnerabilities and sale them to the government. >> billyss is booming right now globally for what hackers call the discovery of zero days of vulnerabilities. explain to folks what that means and why it's such a big industry right now? >> sure. so zero day of vulnerability doesn't have a patch. so you can't basically defends yourself defense it. the you cannot go microsoft or google and get a patch that protects from you that exploit. >> that means you have zero days to fix it, once they are in they are in and you don't know it. >> zero days means there is no knowledge of other than the people uses it against you. >> i read most r-6 day vulnerabilities exist for 312 days on average before they are discovered. is that what your experience has led you to believe? >> it could very. depends on the system that you are looking for. the one problem with zero days is you don't know who has them. right? because no one knows about the zero day vulnerability. only the people that have them or are willing to use them against people. and so you can't gue

for retailers. >> . >> so billy, i am thinking if sony gets hacked my little app will get hacked how safe are these? >> i think we have a long ways to two, so anyone that gets access to your phone, can initiate or receive a payment on your behalf. i don't think i have seen an app where it requires a pin or another step of any kind of security when you are about to send a payment. another thing to consider is banks are pretty good at fraud detection, information, when we see a credit card breech occur, many times it is the bank that detected it not a technical investigator, and they detect that through fraud algorithms they have in place, and they can say look, it looks like this specific organization got compromised. i don't know how many from fraud sophistication that is sophisticated as that. we probably have a long way to go. >> do you use them. >> i don't have any on my phone, i don't have any mobile banking apps. i use online banking uh be i don't have even app. >> i guess we should take a cue from the ultimate good guy. >> this is -- who needs wallets now, check out my screen, t

so important. can tell you that, going back beginning, some of the countries most important figures -- billy mitchell, who of world war i commander air forces -- they were both trained to fly by purdue graduates. got involved in flight from purdue was a guy named clifford. he graduated in 1908. his father sent him here from dayton, ohio. he paid out-of-state tuition son to come here and learn about internal combustion engines. great research going out. by the time he left, they said more about the engines. go back was for him to to dayton with his father, and they were going to build motorcycles. and they did. records in the smithsonian in washington dc. he says, in the evening near my to take long walks after dinner. i used to go past the workshop or the wright brothers were working, and i got to know them and everything. i don't believe a word of that. she, at that time, was a 22-year-old guy. he loved internal combustion engines. he loved the noise. he loved to make engine smaller and more powerful. knew the right brothers, in 1908, were working on airplanes. he made a beeline for the workshop. wh

we've started to look at this sort of these noncombat military losses, which are the billy mitchell fleets, as well. so it's very interesting. and i would say that the -- the merchant marine connection to a lot of the work that we are doing, particularly for the world war ii stuff is really sort of the main impetus for the reason that we're doing it, because of the merchant marine story is very sort of underplayed in the significance. they weren't given veteran status or recognition for years and years. and so what we really wanted to do in celebrating this history of america's involvement in these wars off the coast was to promote the contribution of the merchant marine, and we had -- there's one ship wreck called the dixie aero that was lost off cape hatteras in about 90 feet of water that we've done some work on, some survey, and the captain of that boat was killed. his name was jan johanson. and we've tracked down his daughter, who was 3 years old at the time that he was killed. she's now in her 80s. and she's just 80 now. and we brought her and her grandson out on the site. and did a wreath-laying
