and we look at why one school wanted socks, and not candy, on this halloween. it's next on t-v nine. today. instead of collecting candy, the kids collected socks. the event was part of the school's month long campaign that it called, "socktober." students wrote letters to family, friends and other people asking for them to donate socks for the homeless. they hoped to get 15 hundred socks. but they exceeded by collecting a little more than two thousand. the socks donations came from 35 states and even iceland. the school district then donated them to waypoint services in ceda helps kids learn how to give back. "i just hope that they, they can take away that its not all about them. and that, donating and doing something bigger is a really good cause, and so helping others in the community that do not have as much as they do.
