i think it's a real vote of confidence by the voters in solano county. the businesses downtown are dead. there's no restaurants really to eat at. when people come into town, you know, i have to take them either to napa or somewhere else. vicki jackson is one of the 20,472 voters who has signed on the longtime real estate agent says she's tired of a lack of services and affordable housing in solano county. she says she just had to deliver bad news to another client that the person couldn't really qualify because the interest rates were so high and, you know, the payment was going to be around $5,000. and so and this is a family that can put 20% down. and still they can't really afford the $5,000 payments. this is a terrible idea. congressman john garamendi is among the elected officials who remain staunchly opposed to the plan. garamendi says voters will end up shouldering the cost. i understand that the taxpayers of solano county, the state of california, and quite possibly the federal government are going to be asked to finance a good portion of this ur

it will be the taxpayers of solano county of california. and sure, as we're talking, they're going to try to get federal money to build the infrastructure. the group is bankrolled by a group of some silicon valley billionaires. the county registrar of voters office says it will likely take several weeks to count, and verify those signatures. meanwhile for the first time in almost five years, california's population is growing. governor newsom releasing new numbers today, showing our state gained 67,000 residents last year. state officials attribute the rise to an improvement in immigration policies and the growth in the native population. the state estimates california now has is now home to more than 39 million people. this is a different population boom at san francisco's pier 39. more than 800 sea lions have returned to the docks. that's actually the highest number in seven years. harbormaster says this population boom is the result of a huge school of anchovy coming from the farallon islands near the golden gate bridge, pier says sea lio

i-80 in solano county has come to an end. drivers stuck in the traffic, now able to move after getting caught up in a confrontation. >> this is ktvu, fox two news at 730. >> and good evening everyone. i'm frank mallicoat. we start tonight with a developing story in solano county. right now, both directions of highway 80 in fairfield are back open after an hours long standoff between law enforcement and an armed suspect. standoff lasted for more than two hours before the chp says the gunman was taken to the hospital for a self-inflicted gunshot wound. it all started around 11:00 this morning, chp tells us. this all stemmed from a reported shooting on highway 101 in santa rosa. this morning. officers tracked the suspect vehicle to a shopping center in rohnert park, which led to the pursuit about 330 this afternoon, he stopped near the i-80 680 interchange in fairfield. officer andrew barclay with the chp says officers work diligently to de-escalate the situation. >> in the holes that you see in the back windshield are not bulle

and solano county is grouped in that.at in mind and i'll show you the wind speeds in just a minute but other than that it stays dry but it's wet with the weekend forecast. wind speeds today actually close to around 40, 50 miles per hour in the sacramento valley. but for our friends closer to fairfield, all the way down into concord even, mostly we're going to see anywhere up to around actually fairfield exclusively, anywhere up to around 30-mile-per-hour winds and it's a lot lighter in areas like concord just by 9:00 a.m. now it does get breezier as we head in the afternoon hours but that's the case all throughout the bay especially along our coastline. if you live up in the north bay, or at least close to the coastline near bodega bay,ly experience wind speeds anywhere up to around 30, 40 miles per hour there. fairfield at that point that wind advisory expires at 5:00 p.m. and dies down nicely in the overnight hours tonight. something to look forward to. but we're talking act the weekend now. we're taking a look at today

but then you see tomorrow morning, those winds start to ramp up, especially in solano county. some of those wind gusts 30, maybe 40 plus miles per hour. there as we head toward tomorrow morning. i think that will be the peak of the offshore winds. their normally winds kind of kick it up outside. so national weather service has issued a high wind advisory in solano county, a sustained winds about 15 to 25 gusting to 35. maybe 45 miles per hour in that area. so if your traveling toward the sacramento valley are coming back, you're going want to watch out for that, especially in a high-profile vehicle like a truck as that will be blown around. and some of those winds early tomorrow morning. onshore winds, though, kicking in right now. and it looks like really just some nice weather out there around the bay area. high pressure looks like it is going to hold on. there's one week system to our north up in pacific northwest washington. the oregon bringing them some showers right now. looks like that ridge going to stick around for at least one more day. then after that point, it star

he was taken to the soledad prison in monterey county, and he will be referred to the solano county district attorney's for new charges. and take a look at this wildfire burning in san benito county broke out in a remote area near new idria on saturday. that's about 2.5 hours west from fresno. you can see there burnt grass brush. so far, cal fire says 70% of the fire has been contained. they say firefighters are now cooling hot spots securing fire lines as well. the cause of that fire is still under investigation. a day of remembrance as the bay area honors those who made the ultimate sacrifice this memorial day. the presidio is the oldest national cemetery on the west coast and the annual memorial day ceremony has a feeling of familiarity. a bagpipe played amazing grace color guard brought in the flags, and just as she's done for the last few years, speaker emerita nancy pelosi addressed the crowd at this event. she made a special mention about world war two veterans. she acknowledged that with every passing year, there are fewer of them. she recently met with a group of vets at the french
