these great houses are often aligned in a certain way so that at certain times of year, say summer solstice, light comes through certain windows. i have sat in these at different times of the year and watched this light show start at sunrise where lights start appearing on the walls all around me and you realize this is how you tell time out in this landscape. this is the way they did calendars. this is the way they understood the larger sphere, the moving of the heavens, was by setting up structures that could receive the light in certain ways. i mean, it's happening everywhere. i was just in salt lake city

the sunset is a little farther north as we head to solstice.t like today's daytime highs. mid-60s upper 60s and low 70s. so some of those jackets are going to have to be remember at school or at work. clouds until the bay area weekend only helped to cool us down a little bit. the jet stream driving up a lot of subtropical moisture. it's a big deal because we haven't seen a lot of it this year. there's a storm system developing out in the pacific. high latitude storm which wants to merge up with moisture. that would bring us perhaps our wettest week yet this winter. not hard to do. significant rain possible. next week not this weekend. so let's think about that. we'll watch mark tamayo be here this weekend. in the meantime we're talking about friday. beautiful day, mostly sunny and warm. might see a mid-70s up in santa rosa. down in morgan hill. cool as this next weather system comes in. as you get into saturday and sunday this thing just increases the clouds. maybe a sprinkle on sunday. don't change your plans though. maybe just a sweatshirt or
