the slab is on top of a construction site in tehema street in the soma district.e have team coverage. first, kpix5's andria borba. >> reporter: well ken and liz, the all clear was given out around 9:00 tonight. but tonight, both construction engineers and city inspectors continue looking around at 33 tehema to figure out what went wrong and how they can fix it. after hours of uncertainty and thousands evacuated from the neighborhood, came this announcement from san francisco fire. >> they have concluded at this time that we have no imminent danger to the public or the surrounding buildings. >> reporter: around 2:45 p.m., one of nine struts supporting a platform between the 35th and the 36th floor of the construction project failed causing the platform to lean to the northeast. you can see it clearly in this photo from viewer andrew. >> that platform that is compromised, they will be shoring it up in the next few hours. once it is shored up and stabilized, not until some time tomorrow will they come in and remove the piece of equipment on top of that platform. >> r

this is in the soma district. the piece of the equipment, the heart of the problem is right here, this is what we're talking about right here, what we've been saying crane you can the piece of construction equipment. let's take a closeup view of this equipment it sits on a hydraulic system, sometimes this afternoon while they were pouring concrete one of these hydraulic supports failed, collapsed, causing this structure, basically, the equipment and everything around it to lean this way now at this time, the construction company does not believe it will fall over. they're so sure construction workers are still standing on top of the building. firefighters have evacuated 16 buildings in the area, no word when they will be allowed to return to work the construction company bringing in experts, including one from washington state to figure out how to stabilize this situation and right this structure. >> our investigative unit is also on the story, looking into the track record for the companies working on this projec
