thank you. >> somaliland is a very interesting historical position. this is in the region unique in africa which is already seen two successions legitimize, if i i may put it that way. you representing somaliland would probably want to be the third that is legitimized. the rally at the moment is that i'm not going to get into whether you'll get recognized or not. that is for your neighbors, their own people, your neighbors, somalia itself, the african union and others. but there's absolutely no doubt that so long as somaliland and continue to show that it is keeping stability and it would help if somaliland which showed they could maintain some stable politics rotation of electoral processes and the like would actually stick to that, because right now you sort of run in a bit in the sand on that. i think only time will tell. what i would suggest is that somaliland, your deep aspirations notwithstanding should be watching very carefully what is happening more widely in the region. is there a wider context within which somaliland can fit its aspirations

not just somalia, but all the neighbors of somaliland. we need to get very imaginative and think out of the box at the moment. >> next question. i will take one on this side. >> good morning. i am rob hopkins. i have had the pleasure of living and working in kenya for a number of years. i wonder if you could share your thoughts on how you see kenya's role specifically in the region? outside of their exporting security to somalia and things of that nature, the internal struggles that kenya has and whether they are able to -- or if they have the capacity to be an exporter of security? what other he roles do you see them in with the horn of africa at plarge? >> kenya is an economic powerhouse in the sense it has this incredibly vibrant economy. and long may that list. it is just a question of making sure that the re-distribution within the system works. i think secondly kenya is going hrough its own exercise of reviewing its entire constitutional arrangements post 2007. n effect -- and kenya is emblematic in what is happening in the region.

where i have recently been in somaliland with the conservation fund, the somaliland authorities are onee illegal wildlife trade. we need proper law enforcement, first and all, for checks. we also have to be dealing with not only the source from where these animals come from, often it is very, very pure regions in somalia, north kenya and ethiopia, but we need to be tackling the demand where these animals are destined for. they are ultimately ending up as novelties, trophy pets, for someone's vanity, for the vastly rich people that are in that part of the world. tell us more about that. why? maybe you havejust the world. tell us more about that. why? maybe you have just answered that question, why would someone wa nt that question, why would someone want a cheetah cub or a pet? is it legal? are you allowed to have a cheetah as a pet? you have hit the nail on the head. and in a lot of these countries, it is not actually legal but the authorities will turn a blind eye to it because the parts of the community, the super wealthy, the super—rich, a very influential, it is driven to some degre
