i'm frank somerville. >> i'm heather holmes in for julie. we want to go straight to chief meteorologist bill martin. >> it was really coming down. >> that one couple hour period there on saturday night was nutty. that was a classic el niÑo hicht we had heavy rainfall, over a half foot of rain in some places in three days. let's take a look at the totals over the last three days. we're talk over six inches of rain in orinda. a foot of rain in three days. rainfall in the reservoir averages of lake oroville and lake shasta, the reservoirs are about 103%. it really doing nicely with this rainfall over the saturday and sunday. the reason, a lot of subtropical moisture. it comes flying in off the pacific, and it hits the santa cruz mountains and just starts dumping out. hits mount diablo, the marin headlands, and just starts dumping. we've got scattered showers out there now but not a lot. as we mentioned, there's more. this is just really the beginning. but i would say your saturday night event, that's a 10. we're not going to see one of those. t

. >> i'm frank somerville. ace train service is getting back to normal after one of their trains derailed monday night. this was the first eastbound train heading from san jose to stockton this afternoon. it left at 3:35. trains are going slowly through that niles canyon area. the trains today are going only 10 miles per hour through the area, way under the 40-mile-per-hour speed limit. on monday night a train heading to stockton hit a mud slide, sending one of the cars in to the alameda creek. nine people were injured, four seriously. this morning ridership was down 38% on the first ace train to run since the derailment. it left stockton this morning headed toward san jose. representatives from ace trains say many passengers may not have known that service had resumed and others may have been reluctant to take the train. we talked to some passengers today who told us they're fairly confident of having a safe ride. >> today, no, i figured today probably everybody is looking at the tracks, but come monday after
