crews will be on the scene for several days to monitor brushfire that burned 40 acres near sonoma off highway 121. it spread to a factory and several structures were destroyed along with factory equipment and power lines. >> we evacuated. when a fire line went down we had to pull the firefighters back. no injuries were reported. crews were able to get the fire under control but will continue to watch for flare-ups. the big story is the fire that is burning at mt. diablo state park and it grew overnight from how to a thousand acres. this means more residents are evacuating the wildfire that is raging near clayton in unincorporated contra costa county. team coverage continues with abc7 news reporter amy hollyfield. amy? kristen, we have a visual update. look at the images. this fire is huge. usually you will see fires calm down overnight but this is still very active and raging this morning. it was a busy night for firefighters and still going strong. they still up there on the republican trying to make progress. this started at 1:30 yesterday afternoon along the east side of mt. diablo

this one in sonoma county. it started as a brush fire and then moved to a factory. it started around the same time on mount diablo. we have new information on what happened, linda? >> well, the good news is the firefighters say they now have it fully contained or should be fully contained in the next couple of minutes. 180 firefighters from a dozen jurisdictions all over sonoma county battle the blaze at about 40 acres. most of it was commercial storage land. now, what started out as a grass fire is a ditch fire. quickly spread to a pallet factory. the chief says it this was the worst possible scenario, hot weather and 7-8 acres of lumber that became fuel for the small fire. at one point a propane fuel tank exploded. luckily the fire chief said no one was injured but this was a really tough fire to fight. >> once it got into the wood it was an intensive firefight. difficult, over 30 trailers, commercial trailers involved. we lost three structures. >> only one homeowner self- evacuated. his house was never in danger. limited to the storage area. they are investigatin

firefighters battling a fire in sonoma county. the fire started at 1:30 and spread to a pallet factory. five structures burned in a spectacular fire. exploding propane tanks. we are hearing that fire officials believe it may be arson. mark has been tracking the increased fire danger around the bay area. he's joining us now. we have talked about an increase in the fire danger with a ramp up in temperature back up in the mid- to upper 90s. we've watched all afternoon with the smoke plume. depending with the smoke could have air quality issues. this smoke is visible across the area. this green area is the par tick mat -- particulate matter. heat has been the story. 93 in san ramon to 97 in walnut creek. there's morgan territory road to marsh creek road and mt. diablo and the slopes an increase in the activity. that's the latest with the landscape around the morgan fire. 94 at least the estimates from the weather centers nearby. winds around 7 miles an hour. more of a northwesterly wind. humidity is 16%. the hot temperature in the 90s
