report we got from pg&e was that there were about 11,000 people still out of power throughout sonoma county. pg&e says it has crews throughout the county trying to restore the customers as soon as possible. reporting live, abc-7 news. >> ama: we have dramatic video of an accident that left three east bay firefighters hospitalized with serious injuries after a string of crashes on highway 24 in orinda. crews from the fire department were at the scene of two earlier crashes when an suv hit a fire truck, flipped over and skited into several people off the side of the record. just look at that. we were there just as the last accident happened on the rain-soaked highway. veteran firefighters were all taken to john muir hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries. the driver of the suv and another driver are in critical condition. >>> take a look at this stuck car on shepherd canyon in oakland. peter sent us this picture this morning via you -- ureports. and said good samaritans rescued the driver, and check out this road. the road has since been cleared. e-mail your photos to us at ureport@kgo-tv

look at the rainfall storm totals since last thursday, over 11 inches in sonoma county. over 5 at santa rosa. we got quite a soaking over that period of time. we could be in a soaking for tomorrow. as the next storm as we loop the satellite radar as it approaches the area, it sweeps southward and a i'll give you closer look and where the wet spots will be in just a few minutes. >> carolyn: upstate new york, a man who shot two firefighters to death and wound was a convicted felon who served 17 years for killing his own grandmother. police in webster, new york say 62-year-old william spangler opened fire on first responders. four volunteer firefighters were then shot. two of them were killed including one who full time police lieutenant. investigators say he then killed himself. the fire spread to six other homes which were also destroyed. >> dan: fire departments are stunned and shocked that first responders were targeted. we spoke with san francisco firefighters about it today. sergio quintana is in the newsroom. no doubt they are stunned. >> reporter: absolutely. when t

sonoma county had 5-9 inches of rain. on the peninsula, including san francisco, 3-6 inches of rain. inland along the 680 corridor and the east bay, you also had 3-6 inches of rain but it is done. it is finished. there is no round four. here is something interesting. the rainfall is pushing off to the east. look at what is coming up next. it looks like the -- it looks like the system is heading toward us. but here is one deflector shield, if you will. high pressure building in to the south and west that will take that moisture and shove it up to the north. so high pressure will dry us out giving us partly sunny skies tomorrow and mainly cloudy but still dry on tuesday. on tuesday night into wednesday that there is an area of low pressure that will pass by to the north and we'll get a glancing blow. not that direct hit or direct hits like over the past several days. so rain is in the forecast for wednesday. but it should not be heavy. and it should not exacerbate any of the flooding concerns like over the past five days. w

it's happening all over sonoma county. rivers and creeks filling either to their limits or unfortunately in some cases over their limits. one man tells us he watched the banks of the russian river rise to 17 feet yesterday. he was packing his belongings. this morning he's planning to head for higher ground. >> i think it will be up to here because the flood stage or the expectations at gurnville is 32 feet. >> flood signs popped up across highways and low lying back roads. some drivers ignored those warning signs, you can see, and tried to cross anyway with no luck. a windsor resident said he pulled three cars out of a flooded part of the road. the russian river, meanwhile, is expected to reach its capacity, but not surpass that throughout this weekend. but residents we've spoken with say they are focused on tomorrow. both their preparations and concerns for tomorrow's storm. reporting live in petaluma, abc7 news. >> and we see she has taken off her hood in the last half-hour so a break for folks in petaluma right now. peo

in napa county, sonoma creek was water logged and spilled over. the junction of highway 12 and 121 turn need a lake and the nearby vineyards were flooded. 18 feet is the river's flood stage. in santa cruz county, the water rose so fast about 40 families in the community of felton grove had to leave their homes. the san lorenzo river reached four feet over flood stage. a tree fell over some power lines and knocking out electricity to the nearby communities. and water coming down from the hills forced the closure of an exit of the richmond parkway. the water filled up the giant highway and spilled into the parkway. >>> police in watsonville are trying to track down someone they believe intentionally hit a man with his car last night. officers responded to the report of a hit and run at rodriguez and front street. they say a male driver of a white mini-van intentionally hit him before driving away. the injuries are not life-threatening. 20* night several -- tonight several medical facilities are bracing for a one-day nurse strike tomorrow. around 5,00
