our biggest concern will be into marin, napa and sonoma counties. we already have isolated flooding happening right now. more heavier rain come morning going to make it even worse. then it looks like it will pick up intensity by 10:30 on friday as the cold front moves across, winds 15 to 30 miles per hour. this will be the best chance for san jose down to morgan hill to get in on some heavier rainfall. by the afternoon we keep some scattered rain in the mix and some clouds, certainly not as widespread as the morning hours. and then by the evening we'll begin to see things clear out. there's another system on the way as we head throughout saturday afternoon and evening. doesn't look super strong but with the saturated ground we'll be watching it closely. how much rainfall that's what i want to show you next. you can see our estimated rain totals showing at least 1.5 inches for friday storm and the saturday night system, close to 2 inches in orinda, possibly 2.5 inches near santa rosa and 2.23 near napa. all the rivers in the north bay will be ones to

flooding is expected in sonoma county, penngrove and petaluma. the petaluma river, even the napa river at saint helena, will briefly touch flood stage tomorrow. it shouldn't be high above flood stage. in the meantime, look at how much of this rain, more than 4" up at guerneville and that's one of the reasons that they have flood warnings posted on that river beginning to hit flood stage tomorrow night peaking saturday and easing off by saturday night. between now and then a lot could happen. especially in that part of bay area, stay tuned. as for what happens next, we'll have the complete forecast in just a few minutes. >>> breaking news related to the storm. we are getting word, ace commuter trains are proceeding very slowly and cautiously heading out of fremont to niles canyon. inspectors checking the tracks because of the threat of flooding. can you blame then? they have to be extra cautious. it was monday evening that a mud slide came crashing down on the tracks causing major derailment. one car ended up in the alameda creek, nine people hurt

you can see the coverage of rain continues in marin, napa and sonoma counties where we have our flash flood warning in place through petaluma. now the rainfall again spreading into contra costa and alameda counties. and that's where we do have some of the heaviest rainfall. you can see the red zone here right to the south of oakland. that's producing about a half inch per hour. and that heavier rainfall will continue off to the north and the east through moraga by 5:29. another corridor that is getting just hammered is walnut creek down to danville. also including alamo and san ramon. this is one area over the next 30 to 45 minutes you do want to avoid. as we take a look at our storm system and what is going to be happening, as we head through tomorrow morning, we're going to see a new system arrive. the ground is already saturated. so at 6:30 in the morning, likely some flooding concerns in marin, napa and sonoma counties. we'll see the rain stretch down towards san francisco and across the peninsula. but it really looks active by 10:30 on friday morning. that's as the storm front mo

marin, napa, sonoma counties at 10:00 in the morning. maybe a few spotty showers down toward san francisco. storm will push to the south. it's going to lose some of its energy. but we still think it will hold onto here to at least some scattered showers in the south bay by 4:30 in the afternoon. that's the first system. the second one after this arrives on monday doesn't look strong but a reinforcing shot of some scattered rainfall for the bay area. what i want to show you next is the expected rainfall totals. breaking apart with sunday's storm first then we'll go into monday. you can see for sunday i mentioned this earlier. i'd like to see this obviously a lot higher. we're only looking at about .05 inch rain from marin to san jose. santa rosa on sunday .12 inch. we may see closer to .10 inch in napa. as we add in monday's expected rainfall total we should be good for about .25 inch in san jose, possibly closer to just over .5 inch in santa rosa for that second storm system as well. so some decent rain chances coming our way at least su

there is fear rivers and creeks in sonoma and napa county could creep over the banks in the low- lying areas. any waterway will be poll with reynolds and flowing fast and dangerous. the firefighters scrambled along santa rosa creek after the report a manned's body floating in the water. they did not find anything. while the entire bay area is under a flash flood watch, they have issued flood warnings for now but in sonoma counties. caltrans has shut down a section of highway 21 because of flooding. the chp is warning people should not drive to standing water. your car can easily stall out and it could mean expensive mistakes. you could have your paper lock in your engine and your car could be in trouble. two people who decided to drive down a flooded road incident with county -- sonoma county had to be rescued. the couple drove the toyota into floodwaters on freestone valley forge road near sebastopol. this is something drivers are warned not to do. >> the vehicle went into a foot of water and stalled out. they arrived at the scene. >> authorities say any drivers ignoring those warning

pockets will be isolate to marin and sonoma counties. i still think it will hold some consistent chances of rainfall for the afternoon on sunday. we'll find another wave of some wet weather as we head throughout monday's forecast as well. what i want to show you next is how the rainfall totals will break apart. for sunday i'd like to see these totals a little higher. but right now it only looks good for 0.2 to 0.5 inches. about 0.12 in santa rosa. i would generally look here for between 0.05 and a quarter inch by monday. by monday we'll bump up totals a little more. 0.59 in santa rosa and right around 0.25 for the south bay. we'll take you to that micro climate forecast. once again scattered rain expected sunday through tuesday. then as we push ahead towards april's forecast with only five weeks left of el nino, we're under an above average chance of rainfall. with two different waves of wet weather moving our way this upcoming weekend and into tuesday, we'll have sierra snow. it won't be a ton compared to what we've seen recently. but i
