we're in sonoma county, cierra johnson for nbc bay area news. >> you can just see how dry the grass is behind her too. so this was the scene over petaluma about 5:00 this morning. another dangerous display in the skies courtesy of those bolts of lightning. take a look at this san jose city skyline where our photographer slowed that video down just so we could get a better look at all of those strikes. in total, the national weather service says there were 110 confirmed cloud-to-ground lightning strikes across the bay area. that means a lot of smile fires popped up as a result of that storm activity. this is a grass fire that happened in the oakland hills on grizzly peak boulevard off highway 24. but fire crews were able to get that one under control quickly before it spread. >>> now things are feeling just a little bit calmer. nice to see those blue skies as we look out over san jose, and things are going to get just better for your weekend. meteorologist kari hall has been at it since really early this morning tracking all of it. kari, the lightning is exciting except when we remember
