so light rain, but if you live in sonoma county, definitely expect that. in addition to that, expect better air quality. this is a very nice change from the north bay, down to the south bay, we're going to see clearing conditions, but also over the next couple of hours, we're going to notice an increase in the winds. now, the good news about this system, even though i wished it was more rain, is that it's definitely going to help ease some of those wildfire concerns up through portions of the north bay, near the dixie fire and the monument fire, up through the river complex area as well. that's definitely a good boost, something that we need. however, as this rain pushes through, heading into tomorrow evening, we are expecting to see an increase in the wind speeds. gusting 20, 30 miles per hour. so that's going to bring an area of concern, which is, you know, something that we're always monitoring here when it comes to evaluated fire danger. let's take a look at the seven-day forecast. we're going to stay in those 60s in through tomorrow. a chance for morn

we're in sonoma county, cierra johnson for nbc bay area news. >> you can just see how dry the grass is behind her too. so this was the scene over petaluma about 5:00 this morning. another dangerous display in the skies courtesy of those bolts of lightning. take a look at this san jose city skyline where our photographer slowed that video down just so we could get a better look at all of those strikes. in total, the national weather service says there were 110 confirmed cloud-to-ground lightning strikes across the bay area. that means a lot of smile fires popped up as a result of that storm activity. this is a grass fire that happened in the oakland hills on grizzly peak boulevard off highway 24. but fire crews were able to get that one under control quickly before it spread. >>> now things are feeling just a little bit calmer. nice to see those blue skies as we look out over san jose, and things are going to get just better for your weekend. meteorologist kari hall has been at it since really early this morning tracking all of it. kari, the lightning is exciting except when we remember

take a look at the lightning strikes through northern sonoma county to napa county and moving over towards solano county earlier this morning. once again, the threat is calming down, but it was so active and busy with the lightning during the overnight hours. scott and kris. >> you got an early start today and also, cierra johnson got an early start. she's out live for us this morning. >> in the north bay indeed. what are you seeing out there? yeah, good morning. i'm in rohnert park. neighbors tell us around 9:00 last night there was a stre struck by lightning that sounded like an explosion. a fragment of the tree landing on top of this suv. you can see some of the flag mnss of the tree surrounding it. pg&e did have to cut power to the cul-de-sac until some of that debris could be removed. a crew inspected that power pole that was close to that damaged tree. no one was inside of the truck when that happened. we do have some more of that lightning video we were talking about. this was from sonoma. fire crews confirmed multiple lightning strikes within sonoma county with the national weather

thank you and sonoma county today, immigrants walked 12 miles for the 12 million undocumented people waiting for congress to act on a path to citizenship. dozens of immigrants and their allies walk from santa rosa to healdsburg. they're trying to push the sonoma county board of supervisors to pass a resolution supporting passage of a federal citizenship build. walk organizers say latin x and indigenous communities have been deeply impacted by the pandemic and wildfires. and to that end, they walk. they walked well through the side of 2017 tubbs fire. and past vineyards where undocumented immigrants work. we are standing together as multiple organizations to demand that we have real changes here to support undocumented immigrant workers who work in the vineyard to work as day laborers and who need the proper notification when emergencies happen in our community. organizers say the end of the 12 mile walk about three this afternoon at the healdsburg plaza, where many immigrants work in hotels and restaurants. one person is in the hospital, and more than half a dozen others are displace
