. >> reporter: from oakland to fremont and sonoma county. fire departments across the bay area are sending teams. cal fire santa clara unit sent 52 firefighters. the question now is with so many sent to mariposa county, do we have the resources if another major fire starts here in the bay area? >> well we still have a lot of resources here and there's a lot of cooperators, the fire agencies, where we have a mutual agreement with. so we will be able to protect the community. >> reporter: cal fire has already requested additional crews to back fill crews sent to the oak fire. alameda county fire says they require firefighters to do mandatory overtime to make sure the communities stays protected. >> when we do send out crews to help at the state's request, we make sure to back fill those crews at home. so we do require our firefighters to work extra shifts to make sure that all of our engines, trucks, the rescue are all fully staffed. it's a big lift. >> reporter: covid also adds to the challenges with many departments noting that some of their

a sonoma county fire strike teams deployed on saturday. they are team specifically designed for a wild land fire operations and include the sonoma county fire district captain. alameda county fire says they're also on the ground 18 in that firefight. they tweeted the photo you see right here on the strike team in mariposa county yesterday. also happening today. you got smoke from the old fire is expected to arrive in the bay area, prompting an air quality advisory. the bay area quality management district says that smoke is expected to remain aloft and will create smoky hazy skies across the bay area. the smell of smoke is also possible because of higher elevations. now the bay area residents are advised to avoid exposure by staying inside. if it's possible with your windows and doors closed until the smoke subsides a spare. the air alert is not in effect. well, the washburn fiie inside yosemite national park and the sierra national forest has burned more than 4800 acres. that's 87% contained. fire officials say that the majority of that f
