this is up north, all in an effort to restore sonoma county's russian river redwoods. now, this land is near guerneville and includes 224 acres that had been target for logging. the conservation group save the redwoods league was able to buy the land after collecting $6.5 million in grants and donation fees. support that came from more than 2000 contributors. earlier today on the floor, we spoke with jeff stump, senior manager of land protection for save the redwoods league, about how this will help protect the 278 foot tall tree and what the old growth redwood means for the future of conservation in. so it's really a symbol of what was then and really what can be now because rouz what we're going to do is work with our partners at the county to change the course of this land forever. you know, we're going to help restore the property and in future generations, generations, you'll see many trees like this. they have a lot of catching up to do, but it's a really exciting opportunity. stump also said there is only about 4% of old growth redwoods left, making this large l

we do have a few sprinkles right around bodega bay right now as well as up the coastline in sonoma county itself. most of that rainfall still concentrated to our north. but you do see it out to the west about to be pushing in. take a look at mendocino county. we've been seeing it coming down, had some heavy rain through ukiah up to will its 101, is very wet up there as this highway one up and down the coastline, too. lot of that energy is surging inland now out on its way into lake county, low pressure area, skirting just to the north of us and in the process is certainly cooling things off. but that means its energy is also going to be centered up to the north. that's the very northern reaches of california, is where we're going to see the most of this rainfall potential and already seeing that the rest of us will just see the remnants, the leftovers of it. pockets of light to a few areas of moderate rainfall for the north bay and mostly lighter stuff for the rest of the bay on into the afternoon today. not a lot going on out there, but just enough to get the roadways wet towards the mid

well, the sonoma county board of supervisors is banning the sale of e-cigarettes and flavored tobaccos in unincorporated areas. the board voted to change the county tobacco retail ordinance last night. they say this is due to the increasing use of flavored tobacco by high school aged kids. almost half of 11th graders surveyed in the county say that they have used an e-cigarette and they admit that it's easy to get. they're currently 79 license, tobacco retailers in unincorporated sonoma county, which is almost a quarter of the total tobacco retailers throughout the county. health officials in alameda county have a new bus that is set up to respond to emergencies with multiple people that have been hurt. things like mass shootings or natural disasters. you can see it's one of those huge coach busses. they plan to use it both locally and throughout the state. >> but a half dozen some kind need for some evacuation of a number of patients. and so we're anticipating this to be deployed locally, but also around the state to support any kind at or any kind of situation where we needed to eit
