i'm sonya heitshusen. .and i'm dan winters ... thanks for joining us. the fog cleared out late morning and the sun quickly returned over central iowa. temperatures sunshine. tonight skies will be mainly clear with temperatures dipping back into the 60s and 50s by morning. wednesday looks to be another mild day with more sunshine and temperatures in the 70s. this afternoon haz-mat crews in urbandale. but it turned out to be a false alarm. an employee at worldwide logisitics reported finding a suspicious substance on a package shortly after noon. the building was evacuated and haz- mat crews called in when the employee said the substance made their hands tingle. after investigating officials determined the substance was clearasil ... an exfoliating face wash. earlier in the day there was an actual emergency nearby. authorities believe a construction crew digging near 100th and douglas struck an underground gas line. roads in the area were shut down while mid-american crews responded to shutdown the leak and repair the pipe. those roads are now re-opened.

and i'm sonya heitshusen... ed warned it was coming... and many iowa cities have the damage to show for it... and we had crews covering the aftermath across the state... winterset.. corning.. and knoxville all had suspected tornado damage... knoxville saw some of the worst of it... police say strong winds ripped two air conditioners off the roof of the walmart. roofing also fell inside the store, and yet nobody was hurt. but this... this should give you an idea of the wind speed in knoxville... a gust shot a two-by-four through a truck windshield. the southeast side of town has extensive tree damage. several large limbs came 58:40-58:48 we're very lucky, we had some minor injuries, all were seen by our ambulance, no one transported to the hospital so we're very lucky now to southwest iowa... in corning where a manufacturing plant suffered heavy damage... production at precision pulley and idler came to an abrupt halt. the storm tore up the roof, smashed out a window and damaged the warehouse. workers say it seemed to come out of nowhere.
