and let me take a moment to thank former supervisors sophie maxwell, evan dufty, and michelangelo alioto-pier for your -- michaela alioto-pier for your support and trust of me. i am grateful and inspired by that show of support. but more importantly, i was inspired by what it portends. a new era of trust. a shared sense of purpose and commitment to this city that we all love. a sense of unity. i may be your interim mayor, but i intend to utilize this year and office to tackle our problems with resolve and seriousness of purpose. this is an unprecedented opportunity and perhaps it is just what san francisco needs at this time and in our moment of history. ness an opportunity to come together -- this is an opportunity to come together, to roll up our sleeves and go to work on the significant challenges we all face. for the benefit of all san franciscans. i hope to move us past the labels that have pigeonholed us at city hall or at least to not be bound by them. because if you're a so-called moderate, then i'm a moderate. i've spent the past two decades trying to make this city work, to work for

it evolved further with sophie maxwell's insistence on the pdr space. on the treatment of seventh street nearly as a freeway which driving it, it seems to be at times. we have to take a look at 16th street and go back to the original planning of mission bay. 16th was to be the connector from the mission district through potrero hill into mission bay. this should not be an enclave but should be connected as much as possible to the rest of the city in that sense. as to the street frontage, on hubble, you have small pdr, and retail along daggett and you have retail pretty much around the flatiron building. those not familiar with that term, that refers to buildings basically built on tribal lots. -- trying goal -- triangle lots. when you get into trying dealer lots, that is the normal term that is used. -- triangular lots, that is the normal term that is used. i commend the architect for putting in electric charging stations. i have been involved in that for a few years. we have been encouraging that and it is nice to see it done. for that reason. if you'r

administrator ed lee and his staff, with our san francisco police department, with my former colleagues sophie maxwell and now working with malia cohen, the community came together to put forth an idea of putting an incredible chondria of young, diverse, linguistically-proficient individuals -- the men who women -- the men and women who stand behind me -- to make sure our families, seniors, and young people are safe. this is the type of best thinking that we have when the private sector and public sector and nonprofit sectors come together. i want to thank other local nonprofits that have been working for years to think of creative solutions to be a part of this. when we come together, we are at our best in the city. i could not be more pleased to join the mayor and my colleagues, supervisor cohen, all of the city officials, the chiefs in being able to talk about a program that should hopefully make us say for decades to come. we will keep working. we all recognize that this program is only one part of other programs that we need to think about here. we need -- we know that the south is part of the ci
