sotheby's stock is up this year, so on the back of last night's win, should you be adding sotheby's toio? mark riddick, a senior consumer analyst. welcome to you both. good morning. oliver, just out of curiosity first, does a big sale like this, is it material to earnings? what happened? do margins expand? talk about the dynamics within the industry. >> regarding this lot it was such a marquee lot, that i think margins are a little bit lower, given the world class nature of the scream. it was once in a lifetime. the average commission margin as i measure it at sotheby's was closer to 15%. for a lot like this, i would estimate it's 300 to 500 basis points lower in terms of the competitive bidding environment to obtain this lot and the relationship between sotheby's and christie's. >> all that said, stock is actually below your target price. have you moved it as a result of last night or not? >> i am incrementally encouraged on the performance last night. we do feel like sotheby's is fairly valued, and we have a neutral rating. for me, i believe the business model could illustrate some d

this large painting here was recently reacquired by us at sotheby's a number of years ago, and this is one of the original paintings owned by captain pabst and had been exhibited actually in australia in the 1890s, which i've always found very interesting. eventually it made its way to milwaukee at an art exhibition in 1898 when captain pabst purchased it, and so we're very excited to actually have one of his favorite ship paintings over the piano. this portrait of captain pabst is another original item to our collection. it's a very fine portrait done by franz von lenbach of captain pabst. a very fungy story about this painting. captain pabst was very excited to engage lenbach to do the portrait as captain pabst was very interested in the chancellor of bismarck and as lenbach had done a number of portraits of bismarck, captain pabst wanted his portrait done by him as well. he pressed lenbach into doing this painting, and as lore has it, which has been substantiated, that lenbach was on his way to summer holiday and didn't really want to do this portrait for lenbach and pabst kind of m
