it is a south dakota issue. the small communities and rural areas provide customers and members of the workforce for the larger communities. some young grow with an aptitude for math and science could be a future engineer. will she be able to excel without rob and access at home? or woman might want to come back and take over the family farm. will they have the internet access they need to look at and grow crops? their spouse might want to run an online business. will they move back to the farm is they cannot access broadband? must close the broadband gap. this is easier said than done. they say it can cost up to $15,000 per mile, or even more to lay fiber optic line for internet. number of customers in some areas makes it expensive for some companies to make the investment. some have discouraged us from trying to expand this kind of investment. i refused to quit. geographic location could not be an excuse for the government to futureing with the vitality of our economy at stake. geographic location is no longer

lot of south bay issues. i'll try to get to all or most of them. we have sky 7 through the south bay right now. hopefully, we'll get more info from them shortly. our main issue is a sig alert, deadly crash blocking most of northbound 101 north of mckee road. the good news is, within the last ten minutes or so, they reopened the far left lane. we saw that during amy hollyfield's report. one lane is getting by. they reopened the alum rock on northbound 101. things are slowly starting to improve. that being said, we have significant delays in the area. if you can avoid it, if you can delay your trip, i recommend that. what i don't recommend is taking northbound 680 for an alternate just before you get to berryessa. we've got a three-car crash still blocking the three left lanes. significant delays growing through that area as well. we have another crash on northbound 280 at 11. yet another alternate that has unfortunately a situation that's causing a slowdown. we'll look at drive times, westbound 80. highway had

the south bay with lighter showers for south san jose and also for morgan hill down to gilroy. this system still bringing some rain and i'm tracking the break in between and the next storm system that will be here on friday, and we're still getting some of those high wind gusts. the wind advisory continues until 10:00 this morning. this is for these areas along the coast and also elevations above 1,000 feet, and talking about some of the wind gusts, mt. diablo had a gust of 54 miles per hour, los gatos 46. even in san francisco, a lot of reports of people saying that the windows were shaking. they could hear the wind howe howling. gust of 44 miles per hour there. mt. tam 38 miles per hour and in san jose 22-mile-per-hour winds may have brought down a tree. we are tracking the gusty winds as you get dressed this morning, grab a rain jacket once again with the high winds. the umbrellas don't work that well. wear rain boots or at least shoes you don't mind getting wet. we have a lot of puddles left on the sidewalks and as you head out this morning. we're going to see much of the r
