we'll see most of the rain moving through the south bay and possibly the east bay. kind of watching the showers right now to see how they're behaving even as they're offshore. as they continue to move inland, here is a look at the futurecast and possibility of scattered and light showers moving in as we go through the day. once again, not all of us will see that rain. your best chance will be from san jose and farther to the south and also for parts of the east bay. here is a look at how much we can see, possibly up to .10 inch. i'll talk more about that. we'll get a closer look in a few minutes. let's see what's happening on the roads now with anthony. >> temperatures that will be cool, enough for rain. that's great. let's talk about some traffic. we are looking at light traffic across the south bay. things looking good through the altamont pass as well. a small slowdown through dublin, not affecting traffic that much. a small accident right at 4 and 80 in hercules. again, it's early in the morning. not as many cars on the road so not affecting traffic all that muc

by friday, up to 86 degrees in the south bay. looking at the forecast this weekend, in the north bay, expect a high of 91 degrees on saturday. san francisco in the low to mid-70s and the peninsula will feel highs in the low to mid-80s. the cooler day of the weekend on sunday and pretty toasty in many spots on saturday. i'll have another look at the forecast coming up. let's see how things are moving on the roads with mike. >> san mateo bridge right now looking anywhere west of the toll mrauza and the traffic on the span itself moves smoothly. as we look at your map, approaching the toll plaza, probably the toll lanes spread out. the screen past the chain link fence so that must be over on the right side. stay over to the left as you approach that toll plaza for the time being. i'll track that. meanwhile, the rest of your approach towards the bay bridge, for example, moving very smoothly into san francisco. giants play the dodgers tonight. keep that in mind. also seeing reports of a stalled vehicle over near the fremont or ninth st

south bay up to 79 degrees. as we go hour by hour in san francisco, we do have clouds at 8:00 but there will be times of sunshine and staying below that 70 degree mark in some spots around the embarcadero could see high hitting 70. and as we see what's happening in the tropics, there are still three hurricanes happening out there but none of them at this point are expected to affect hawaii but himena a category 3, missing hawaii over the next couple of days and weakening. great news there. cooler air moving in once again. as that moves onshore, temperatures will stay below average for today, tomorrow, friday. but then we will have that kind of moving off to the east and our temperatures will be warming up. looking at highs in the mid-80s for saturday. as you make plans to be poolside, barbecuing, whatever you plan to do for the labor day weekend. it will be 80s and 90s, feeling like summer but this is the unofficial last weekend of summer. we will enjoy it with warmer temperatures especially in the tri-valley. l

we have 53 degrees in the north bay and 54 in the south bay. ghs today will be in the 60s and 70s. rain moving in late morning for the north bay and early evening for the south bay. we have a light onshore flow and then a shift in the wind as the wind starts to feed energy into that approaching cold front. and the winds will be picking up, too. a gusty day from the south up to 30 miles an hour sustained winds at about 20 to 25 miles an hour. and even this evening it will be breezy as that system continues to move on through. so here we are with that moving in, showers moving into the north bay, seeing that rain now up around ukiah. to give you a better idea of the time line, we still see that heavy rain pouring on the north bay at lunchtime and it will be approaching san francisco. the closer look, moving through there as well as parts of the east bay by 5:00 this evening. as it moves through the south, rain kind of falls apart, more of a scattered light rain for the south bay as well as the parts of the peninsula and the east bay. and we're loo

you can see how comfortable it is. 77 across the south bay. east bay at 82. back into san francisco, at least at the immediate coastline from our san bruno mountain camera, you can see how fogged in it is at this hour with also areas of drizzle. that fog at the immediate coastline, very strong. we are expecting that to come back for tomorrow morning. in fact, for tuesday morning, it does look like it will be a lot cloudier than we had this morning with isolated drizzle in san francisco and down to 57. for the peninsula, 58. for the south bay, we'll start at 50 degrees. i want to take you next to the satellite radar picture because we're noting changes on that this afternoon. what we're finding is a stream of cloud cover across central california. no you'll probably notice the cloud cover in the south bay. we're not expecting rainfall particularly from this, but if you're heading domonterey, soledad, you may get spotty showers, a little green showing up on the radar. it is worth noting this cloud cover is associated with a trough of low pressure off shore. it'

unfortunately, nothing over the next five to seven days. >> 82 degrees in the south bay. looking really nice. little cooler throughout the bay area compared to yesterday. tracking 80 in the east bay and the evidence of the cooler air is in san francisco. check out how beautiful the fog is rolling throughout downtown. we could see the tower, there it is right there, just the top of it. stands up 977 feet tall. you add on the higher elevations and there's a marine layer of about 2,000 feet and that will be good enough to give us that fog back for tomorrow morning. take a look. it's going to be drastically different, not only areas of patchy clouds but the thick fog in san francisco and the peninsula likely areas of spotty drizzle as well with temperatures in the 50s to low 60s. the forecast has a lot of moving parts throughout the west. the first one, again, is that fog at the immediate coastline that drops temperatures anywhere from 5 to 6 degrees today throughout the interior valleys. as you get a larger look, we're tracking this trough of low pressure to the north. that's

you'll see 77 in the south bay. it will stay mild to cool across the bay area, and those high clouds as well. tri-valley, 78. san francisco, 65. and for the north bay, partly sunny and 75. definitely feeling like fall outside tomorrow. that's the great news. here's the trend for the south bay. we start to see temperatures go back up by friday and saturday and down again on sunday. so it's this up and down pattern returning but at least it's not too hot for friday and saturday in san jose. a look at livermore and the average is 82. below average temperatures on wednesday and thursday. it does go up to 90, but that's about it when it comes to the heat, and then we'll start to see numbers go back down to 87 on saturday and then eventually 79 on sunday. now, as we look ahead to this weekend's forecast, we talked about the temperature trends, also for the east bay, 83 on saturday, and 78 on sunday. and for the north bay, 85 on saturday and 76 on sunday. i have been getting a lot of questions about el nino and when could w

the main shower band to our south and west, approaching the bay area. and camera shows high clouds sweeping into the region. on the satellite, lots of clouds streaming into the region as you can see from the south and west. main focus of the activity will be down closer to monterey bay. but close enough to the bay area we have to bring in that chance as you can see right now on the radar, a little activity here, especially to the south of monterey bay. but something to be watching for today. still lots of clouds out there and up in the north bay checking in novato and ukiah. concord 59, san jose upper 50s. santa rosa the cool spot checking in at 49 degrees mostly cloudy for this morning, partly cloudy this afternoon and we will bring in that chance of a shower through the day, as you can see temperatures mainly in the 60s, 70s. highest chance for the south bay, but even to the north, could have a few sprinkles paying us a visit. break down the warming trend in our five-day forecast, but keeping an eye on clouds for tad. sal has an update on the roadways
