new reports showing the south bay leads the country in job growth. bay's" bob redell joining us with details. does this mean we could see another job boom? >> not necessarily. economists aren't calling this a job boom, but more of an upswing. new numbers from the u.s. bureau of labor statistics show the south bay job market, basically the area covering san jose, sunnyvale and santa clara grew by 3.2% between the last two octobers. that's the fastest growth in the country, almost three times the national average. you can see houston and seattle not too far behind. the tech industry is leading the charge in this burst of hiring. what makes this different than what we saw ten years ago, instead of being led by the dot coms of the early 2,000s, it's from heavies like apples, facebook and linkedin. forecasts say the bay area economy will continue to be the fastest growing over the next few years. one economist expects it to spread throughout the other eight counties in the bay area. we have yet to see much of that. the east bay has only seen growth of .1%.
