and mike, you've got a big deal happening in the south bay. >> but not the good kind. kend you're showing. a crash major crash reported here. most of the bay shows a smooth drive. it is northbound 17 where chp has reported a major crash but not major injuries. that's an important difference here. we have traffic jammed up solid from hamilton up toward about 280, i think the crash is just shy of 280 judging by the speed sensors. you can use baskham, winchester to get by and what's happening, folks are hearing about the crash, some are instead of going to 17 are choosing northbound 87 as an alternate. this will be building and seeing the slower drive, you may take capitol to 101. more slowing coming off of 85 and headed up toward alum rock and mckee. that may be the ripple effect. just warning you as we track that crash in san jose. the peninsula is an easy drive for palo alto as the sun comes up. slower now westbound 92, and there is a crash reported at the toll plaza, that will complicate things off of 880. the dumbarton bridge looking much better, and we have the bay b

rolled through and temperatures were able to climb into the upper 60 still seeing upper 60s in the south bay. little cloutd. 60 degrees for the tri-valley and through the north bay 63 degrees. the reason for late rain is that initial storm t first cold front expected to move in overnight will be stalling over the north bay initially. the north bay seeing the rain first. as far as the rest of the bay area. let me sew you what the doppler radar is showing right now. you can see the storm already approaching and if i zoom in a little bit closers, this is where you can tell that the storm is centered more off to the north. the north bay will get the majority of the not jus overnight but into tomorrow. we're expecting to rain to move in around the 11:00 hour and then get heavier for the north bay. north of the golden gate bridge sees the majority of the rain overnight. tomorrow afternoon expecting it to go southward. this is ant big wide spread storm. as the system begins to move south we're going to see it diminish and scattered showers for the south bay. a closer look at exact time line for tha

the rain shadow is ending for the south bay. santa clara, over mineta san jose international and towards downtown san jose. watch out for puddles there. it was like driving through a river the entire commute this morning. notice the atmospheric river, the big plumes of moisture, not upstream. that's why we're having the heaviest rain now and turn it over to showers as the parent load, the system brings us enough uplift and instability for thunderstorms. there's a slight chance that bee may -- we may see hail. it will cause localized flooding once again anywhere they happen. they could happen anywhere. here you see at 7:00, our organized heavy rain moving on, becoming showers. towards 9:00, there's still one or two around. by noon, we've got a few. but not nearly as many. into the afternoon hours, a little lull. at 4:00, watch this low come through. the curl and the future radar, that's the low and the best chance of thunderstorms late this afternoon through the evening hours. the storm will taper to a 1 thursday. look at how muc
