now, families in the south bay just cannot seem to catch a break. nbc bay area stephanie spoke with several people have been dealing with unplanned outages for hours and days at a time. >> reporter: it is day five . the heat is still on, and families in the south bay are fed up. >> are getting angry. we are frustrated with each other in the house. >> reporter: hundreds throughout the neighborhoods in san jose say they have been without power for nearly three days, due to constant blackouts. >> you either have to leave the windows open or stay in the car. he >> the kids have little ice chest in the kitchen. we are throwing away food and going out trying to eat and things like that. >> reporter: pg&e says it is heat related and had crews working on a transformer for hours. on the east side, thousands of families were hit with another round of outages during peak hours, forcing some to lay on the grass and others to take out their couches. a woman said she is worried about her newborn who is just four days old. she says her baby has been extremely fussy

south and east. so i know our east bay valleys and south bay valleys wondering, okay, what storm? it's been a dead so far. well, you're getting the bulk of that moisture out there right now. this evening, mother nature not done with the bay area just yet. we're tracking pretty severe weather just to the north of clear lake where we are tracking some pop-up thunderstorms with lightning there. we are going to see, though, light to moderate downpours throughout this evening. as you can see, they are field and even just north of antioch, we're starting to notice is self as form there and also concord and walnut creek tracking some light to moderate showers out there right now as our fremont and milpitas san jose, big bull's eye over. use your finally noticing some of that wet weather that the coast got earlier this morning. but as you can see, no showers out in the pacific. so it looks like the bulk of the wet weather going to remain throughout our north bay, east bay and south bay valleys overnight into monday. slight chance of pop-up thunderstorms. your full work. the forecast coming

south bay and upper elevations on the peninsula. the same heat advisories and peach along the bay shore. those are 90 degree spots. today's highs in the city, mostly 70's 80's. nice weather near the coastline. pacific at 72 half moon bay up to 80 at the coast, though. so some of us at the coast are going to be really warm 80's to 90's along the bay shore and woodside all the way up to 103 redwood city, san carlos at 98 south bay temps pretty solidly in the triple digits for you while up a few degrees in pleasanton and livermore at each. our hottest spots, danville and walnut creek. at one 10 today, oakland, you'll be at 88 conquered pittsburg, antioch, vacaville at 109 youngsville 107, santa rosa through nevado at 104. tomorrow's highs drop a little bit, but we're still triple digits for one last day on friday, saturday, those same inland areas fall into the low 90's and by tuesday and wednesday of next week, it's only low 80's kuz going to feel so so good bayshore cities from the 90's to the 70's tomorrow. so you're getting relief

says about 40,000 bay area home to businesses lost power yesterday evening mainly in the south and east bay. throughout the bay area, the main cause of averages that we're seeing as transformer failure because these components are not able to cool down overnight. pg and e crews are working around the clock, replacing down power lines and repairing damaged transformers. some school districts are taking extra steps to keep students and staff safe during the heat wave that includes the nevado school district, which will put some of its schools on minimum day so students can be sent home early all this week. those schools are loose. sutton elementary, novato high school and the hill education center. all other nevada schools will follow their individual heat plans, which can mean counseling, outdoor athletic practices and games and holding pe classes indoors. contra costa county office of education has a color coded chart that limits outdoor physical activity based on the highest temperatures that includes limiting outdoor practices and pe classes when temperatures are higher than 95 degree

still looking good air quality along the coastline with the sea breeze there, the east bay in the south bayrrow that on shore flow is starting to kick in, though. and that is a nice thing to see after the record heat around the bay area. but this dome of high pressure will start to weaken a little bit. there's little front that's going to roll over the top of that ridge. that's going flatten out that ridge just a little bit. and that means the temperatures are probably going to back off a couple degrees. don't get too excited yet. we're still talking place dropping from 113 down to maybe about 106 tomorrow. so still sweltering hot in places, especially inland. and then i think we'll see that ridge build in again. and the temperatures are going to start to warm up highs yeah, we're still looking at 106 degrees in concord. 106 in livermore. very comfortable. 79 degrees in san francisco as you get in and around the bay. still upper 90's into the south bay, the coastal sections probably very comfortable there. you probably see some numbers to back down into the 60's and the 70's at least for on

the bay area shaded in that the exceptional drought conditions otherwise extreme parts of the south bay rest of california. and then we're fortunate in some places, almost normal rainfall around parts of the bay area. some things as they sit right now. yes, still severe. there's no getting around that. but it's improved from where at last year. so because that early rain, this is where we actually sit the numbers pretty skewed early on in the season. we've got that rain events. so some 144 to 565% of normal in santa rosa. so not a bad start. let's hope it keeps going. of course, it's a long way to go on. those numbers tend to even out over time up there right now. not a drop to be seen dry as can be around the bay area and likely going to see a bit of an offshore wind tonight. and that means some warmer weather moving in for tomorrow. i think tomorrow afternoon have some of these temperatures sticking up in the low 90's in some of the valley's place like livermore given the concord to get in parts of the east bay, maybe the parts of the south bay. we'll be close to that to 80's around m

and people in one south bay city are furious after four nights of outages. tonight morgan hill leaders are demanding answer, and pg&e says even the ceo is a looking into it. here is nbc bay area's ian cull. >> reporter: around morgan hill, you can find evidence of the problems this week. mobile stop signs near intersections. police put them out when the traffic signals went down over the past four nights, and they remain here on standby in case the power goes out again. for the last four nights, different parts of morgan hill went dark in power outages as temperatures hovered in the 90s or 100s. some neighborhoods lost power all four times. >> i assumed it was random. but how come it's our neighborhood every time? >> reporter: douglas wright had his grandkids visiting this week. they haven't slept because they're constantly sweating with no ac due to the blackouts. >> i'm feeling a little abused. after the second night, it just was redundant and can't sleep. you got all the windows of your house open, and there no relief. >> i am wan twoun sleep with a fan on
