well, tesla is now battling to court cases in the south bay. the company decided to settle one more family was suing the company over its autopilot feature. they say it malfunctioned, killed a man in mountain view. the crash happened back in 2018 on highway 101. investigators say the driver was playing video games on his phone law using tesla's autopilot feature that investigation determined the auto pilot system did not recognize a lane change on the highway. tesla has long said its feature does not prevent all accidents. we don't have any word on how much money tesla settling for both sides are back in court this thursday to talk about further settlements. another court case long tesla is going to be heard today. this case involves a family whose two-year all son crashed a tesla into his pregnant mother back in 2018 lawsuit accuses tesla of consumer fraud advertising. the model x is safe. also claims tesla knew about a detective defective design in it. tesla denied any liability. our take a look at the smoke coming from inside the posey tube

you'll have to take and have to consider if you're going to the south bay from the east bay, you're going to want to take 24 over or 580 over to 880 and then back on down to for the south bay. if you're going down to if you're going from the further east, such as tracy highway 84, that will take you back to the closures, where 680 will then continue on down to the south bay. according to caltrans. this is work they've been doing for a while, and they're trying to make the roads safer for drivers to fix some of that deteriorating road that they've been trying to fix for the last few years. right now, they try closing it back in early parts of this year. in january and february, but the rain had to force them to postpone. they did do it back in march and now they're going to be doing it again. they say it's going to be beneficial for them because instead of this, they would have had to do about 40 nighttime closures and they didn't want to do that. they said closing it down just for the weekend will make things go a lot faster. so if you are heading down to the south bay, you got to keep an

we've seen showers in the vicinity for the south bay already. pread rainfall now officially sitting right over the peninsula on up into the north bay to these areas right here, really looking at rainfall picking up now in pockets of heavy rain right around american canyon here around richmond on up and down the east bay shoreline. to let me zoom in on a few areas that were actively seeing some heavier showers. as i mentioned right there along highway 37, we are seeing some heavy rain right watch out for standing water there. richmond center fell bridge very wet at this point. now, as is the bay bridge in the golden gate, san francisco seeing some showers pushing through in lighter showers generally south of there. we are going to be looking at some snow mixed in with all this, too. as you can see that purple south of san jose. and then most notably all that blue just south of livermore and east of san jose. this is the area around mount hamilton. the lick observatory well high enough in elevation to get several inches of snowfall out of this very

we will talk about the south bay and a couple things there, coming up. >>> oakland police shot and killed a murder suspect. today in the bay's bob redell joins us live from the scene this morning. are police telling you very much right now, bob? >> reporter: enough that we got a sense of what happened. good morning to you, laura. this shooting took place outside a residence on 16th street. it appears they are waiting for sunlight and the arrival of the corridor. sacramento police located a suspect who committed a murder in their jurisdiction, and so they requested opd to send officers to the scene to help arrest the suspect. opd says when they arrived the suspect came out of a home armed with a gun. oakland police officers fired their weapons and hit the suspect who died here at the scene. no officers were hurt. as a standard with officers-involved shootings, they are now on administrative leave. >> we will continue to monitor the breaking news on air and online. a great resource to stay up-to-date is our nbc bay area app. it's free and available to download. >>> turning now to decision 2

snow continue to fall in the south bay mountains of santa cruz mountains. also mount hamilton getting more snow on the way overall. it's really affected much of california as the storm system tracks for the south lot of snow in the sierra nevada weather chaining up there as well. they're going to count maybe a couple of feet, maybe 3 feet of snow before this is all said and that low kind of moving out of town behind that. you've got that cold air in turning more toward showers as we head in toward tomorrow. you see right here overnight tonight, another band of moisture rolls on shore around 02:00am and more snow over the mountain. tops them for your commute early on. here's the good news. i think we start to dry things out. that said still be a little bit slick on the roads, but least improvement from what we had today. and then by the afternoon, a few more pop up. showers and thunderstorms begin to pop up over the mountain tops late in the day, especially into the east bay overnight lows going to cold, though. how about this? 34 degrees and live more in apr

in the south bay. the san jose police department says it's increasing patrols at local places of worship as the conflict between israel and hamas escalate. this comes as a new report says anti-semitic incidents increased by 140% since 2020 in the u.s. this is video from lake merritt in oakland back in december when vandals tossed a menorah in the lake and then in march, a walnut creek city council meeting was disrupted by a man's anti-semitic rant. the anti-defamation league says there's been a spike in incidents after the attack on israel by hamas and israel's bombing in gaza. >> you know, a whole society response to fight hate. we know there are far more allies to address this upbringing of hate and those who act to undermine american values. that's some great diverse team. rowdy and a multitude of cultures. >> the human rights organization released this map showing what they say are anti semitic incidents that happened across the u.s. since october. 7th. they've recorded more than 3200 incidents in

tesla's battling 2 court cases in the south bay this week. company decide to settle family was suing the company over the auto pilot feature. they say malfunction and killed a man in mountain view. crash happened back in 2018 on highway 101. investigators say the driver was playing video games on his phone while using tesla's autopilot feature that investigation determined the auto pilot system did not recognize a lane change on the highway. tesla has long said teachers, they do not prevent all accidents. we don't have any word on how much money tesla settling for both sides will be back in court this thursday to talk about the settlement a little further. another court case involving tesla. that's going to be heard today. case involves a family. his 2 year-old son crashed a tesla in his pregnant mother back in 2018. that lawsuit accuses tesla of consumer fraud. robert eyes of the model x is safe. it also claims tesla knew about a defective design. tesla denied any liability. well, on alameda island, take a look at the smoke coming from the p
