well, in the south bay, parents are growing frustrated with their school district as the children headool this morning. today in the bay's bob redell joins us live from the alum rock union school district in san jose. and parents are upset over a number of things, including possible school closures. correct. good morning to you, laura. marcus, the alum rock union school district is home to 21 schools here in the south bay. like linda vista, vista elementary behind me. but because of declining enrollment, the board is preparing to close nine of these schools by fall of 2025. so in about a year from now, the district did have 10,000 students enrolled. this was before covid. today it's down to around 7600. you might recall a few weeks ago, parents gathered outside district headquarters to vent their frustrations not only about the closures, but the fact that the district is starting this school year without a permanent school superintendent, and also over the fact that there's a lawsuit by 11 students claiming the district conspired to hire hide sex assaults by a music teacher who is now

so we're going to see more 80s in the south bay. the 90s. ave us at 87 here in san jose over to the east bay. have you 287 fremont 76 in hayward out to concord, 9178 in vallejo, coastline 60 three half moon bay over to redwood city. you're at 80 up to san francisco, 68 in downtown. and for the north bay, 82 in napa. so the numbers are trending downward for tomorrow. and i've got more good news for you here. the way things look over the next 7 to 10 days, we actually could see not one, not two, but three different areas of upper low pressure here moving throughout the west. now, what this is going to do is not bring us any rainfall, but drop those temperatures starting on sunday through next week. we're looking at plenty of 80s inland. coolest stretch of weather since back on june the 12th through the 21st. i don't know about you, but i am ready for it. we're good to go. all right, let's check it out here in san francisco. 60s coming in next seven days. inland valleys. we start those 80s on sunday all the way through next week. and for paris w

all right, so let's take a look at our temperatures across the south bay. cupertino will reach a high of 86 today, but then a high of 92 in morgan hill. much of the east bay seeing some lower numbers, but still pretty warm. we're up to 94 in antioch today. pleasanton 90 degrees and some upper 70s for hayward. and then along the coast, it's still foggy and cool in the low 60s, while in palo alto will hit a high of 83 today and upper 60s in san francisco with a lot of clouds and fog and a breezy wind. but temperatures range in the north bay from 64. in bodega bay to 100 and clear lake in ukiah and in sonoma today, 86 degrees, so you can still see the warmer temperatures. and we'll continue to have those warmer spots in the inland areas at least through the weekend. but next week, some of our warmer valleys will only reach into the mid 80s. well, in san francisco we're seeing a lot of 60s here through the middle of next week. mike, you're hearing about a crash in dublin. yeah, i don't see any appreciable slowing on our camera right here. it's just past our came

in the south bay. an arson investigation is underway now in san jose after this garbage fire spread to nearby grass. this was on east taylor street near watson park. in fact, it was our own jack moment who was in the area working on a story when he saw a man set a pile of garbage on fire. he called 9-1-1. fire crews came out, had it extinguished in about 10 minutes. san jose police say the investigation into the cause. the arson investigation is now being handled by san jose's fire department. >> and san jose mayor matt mahan is looking at maybe ideas from other california cities on how to deal with homelessness. yeah, this as he's facing pressure to clean up growing encampments kron four's jacmel but has the story. >> soon the city of san jose's unhoused population could be cycling through something like this tent sites row by row. it's just 4 walls. but san jose mayor matt mahan says it may be their best bet to finding permanent housing for the unsheltered. we are now looking to experiment with that
