members of the south bay's unhoused community are on edge ahead of expected sweeps. the city of san jose posted this notice warning of crackdowns on illegal encampments near story road. the sweeps could happen any time between now through january 13th. more than 50 people are estimated to live in the area, and many say they have no idea where they'll go next. no, i just pack up as much stuff as i can and just gogo somewhe like a different place and wait for them to sweep their. he also said he's concerned about facing sweeps later in the year. now, starting tomorrow, the santa clara valley water district can begin enforcing a new law that bans camping on valley water land. the district says it's to address health and safety issues. it plans to focus on public outreach first and is not planning any immediate abatement efforts related to the new ordinance. enforcement could take months. the start of the new year means it's going to cost you more to get around parts of the bay area. let's take a live look at the bay bridge toll plaza. some bridge tolls and transit fares are goin

city's south of market and tenderloin neighborhoods. and there's been some progress. but the supervisor who represents soma is fed up wiwith what's happenig on one particular street. nbc bay area's sergio quintana has more on the bold plan. he wants the city to take a look at to address the problems on sixth street in the south of market district. on any given day, you can see some of san francisco's issues with drug use, drug dealing and mental health all out in the open. this is in supervisor matt dorsey's district. he's pressing city departments to take swift action here, just on the sixth street corridor. if we were to effect 100 arrests per night with an eye toward making those life saving, medically appropriate interventions, gettingeople into detox drug treatment. dorsey has sent a formal letter of inquiry to all city departments that are responsible for law enforcement, public safety and public health to ask what they would need to make his 100 arrests a night proposal a reality. he acknowledges there has been improvement on drug use and sales on several street corners in south of market and the neighboring tenderloin, but not on sixth street. supervisor dorsey sa
