working in a middle school in south bronx and it -- >> so daniel, tell me how it works.this refrigerator. where is it? how is it that families can come and either get food out or perhaps even put food in to help other people. what's the system that you created? >> yeah, sure. so the first thing that i really want to emphasize here is that it's a total community partnership. so it wasn't just me and charlotte. i brought it to the bronx community foundation, and they introduced me to a community advocate. and together the three of us reached out to a local bodega called chicky's mini market. they've been in the local community for 50 years. they're a dominican family. and they decided to host our refrigerator outside of their store. now the refrigerator is literally open 24/7. it's chained to the street. and it's a freestanding, 24/7 access to food, no questions asked. so anybody can take produce or food inside the refrigerator, and anybody can also leave and donate to the refrigerator. it's completely all access. >> charlotte, how do you know it's making a difference? wha

. >> so forselli went to the 43rd precinct in the south bronx to see if there was any truth to the storyly 1998, walked in the precinct. went upstairs, walked into the detective squad room. >> you go in there and say what about this murder, what do you know about a murder? >> yeah, i wanted to know about a cab driver murder in soundview or the area around soundview. >> and the response? >> they had nothing that fit that description. >> but forselli's informant insisted the murder did happen. >> you didn't only make one trip to the 43rd precinct. >> made two. again, came out saying we have nothing that fits that description. >> is there any conceivable reason why the police department wouldn't tell you the truth? >> well, i thought about that. >> soreselli says the answer might be simple. as far as the nypd was concerned, this homicide was solved. closed. >> the detective may have looked only in the open homicide drawer and never bothered to even look to see if there was anything other than an unsolved homicide that fit that description. >> as far as you know, that's the end of it. >> rig

i began as a classicist and worked out of a studio in the south bronx until joe sent me a polite email, asking me to partner up with them. i did. i was doing figures that were very static and esoteric. i was casting a bronze beats mortality. i learned my craft and my art in italy. i am half italian. my father is american. my education came from a man who came out of germany. that element about the structure of the figure and how the figure is developed, as an architectural system, using organic forms is how i perceived reality. imagine a large part of how i see reality. this is how i think. the way i saw a single figure was way i was eventually able to compose a composition 38 figures. it was not the first one. it was around the 18th one. never quite a lot of meetings that i drove back to new york to start from scratch. these are anatomical drawings that you can see, i am thinking well below the surface of the human body. there are a couple things that really informed my work. first and foremost, what are we depicting? human beings. we are depicting the human experience. we are showing
