so the first two nights in south carolina he was at 30%. the last two nights of polling in south carolina after he said ban all muslims from this country, it wasn't at 30% anymore. he popped up to 38%. so republican voters love it. apparently. mainstream is recoiling in disgust and dismay. but republican primary voters, they are a different breed of cat. they like it. a lot. when the republican presidential field this year first started taking shape, really looked like there was a lot of depth to their field this year. i mean, yeah, there were this handful of political amateurs, donald trump and carly fiorina and ben carson. but then out of the 17 people who were declared presidential candidates on the republican side, honestly a majority of them had been governors. 8 of the 17 had been governors. 5 of them had been or currently are senators. and of the governors who are running, obviously jeb bush has the family dynasty on his side so he's i guess the dynastic favorer, but governor scott walker was thought to have the best prospects. david

a south carolina war hero is facing a personal setback. medal of honor recipient kyle carpenter has been charged with "hit and run." this stems from an incident earlier this month near usc's strom thurmond wellness center. jack kuenzie joins us live from the scene charles and sam----columbia police say carpenter struck a pedestrian in one of the walkways here at blossom and assembly. they say he pulled over for a while---but left the scene after the victim got up and continued walking. police say the incident happened the evening of december 8th----as carpenter was heading west on blossom and attempting to turn left onto southbound assembly street. they say 18 year old michael haddad was in the crosswalk on the way to the thurmond center and had the signal in his favor. the victim was knocked down----and police say carpenter pulled over and put on his flashers, but did not get out of his vehicle. police say after the victim got up---suffering from a leg injury and some resumed driving on assembly. he was tracked down after police looked at
