this map is from the history of south carolina and the revolution by south carolina historian edward mccready published in 1902. i have highlighted the major battles that involved continental soldiers. you can see there was quite a lot going on during that period as evidenced by the little red #'s all over the state. why i had heard so much about the war in the northern states but knew very little about what happened in the south. well may be that when the south lost the civil war, our nation's historical narrative came under control of northern historians who greatly diminished the role of the south in winning the revolutionary war. fortunately, about the time of the bicentennial in 1976 interest in the revolutionary war surged and interest in what happened in the south was revived. in the 1990's we began to see more writing on the subject of the war in the south. there's been quite a number of good books published since then. the war in the south has even made it to the silver screen. promote thed never patriots starring mel gibson as the pinnacle of historical accuracy, it does ha
