from there i went to myrtle beach, became the evening anchor in myrtle beach south carolina. it was a wonderful place to be for the 2008 election. from 2006 on we had candidates tripping over each other for 2 years leading into that south carolina primary which is the 2nd primary in the processand the 1st in the south . i grew up around john mccain all my life. i circulated brochures for him in his 1st campaign in phoenix in the early 80s and when i left yuma, he was one of my last interviews. we did all border story with senator mccain and i said i'm going to south carolina, we might not see each other again for a while and 6 years later i got a phone call and it was mccain and i'm coming to greenville, you want to follow along and we drove up and for 2 years i saw john mccain more in south carolina and i ever did in arizona as he campaigned for that nomination and ended up winning that primary. so that was an amazing election cycle and i thought i wanted to write a book about that but it wasn'tquite enough so my career took me to columbus ohio which was the epicenter of bat
