we're feeling that in the south county, but then as we go into the rest of today, spots like santa rosa will go from right near freezing. we're at 33 right now. we'll go to the upper 60s and see sunshine with a milder day, compared to what we're starting with. as we take a look at what's going on around big sur, we've been keeping an eye on what's called the colorado fire. this still burning, but we are getting more containment. looking at the weather conditions in that area, it's now 47 degrees. it's chilly, humidity is coming up and the winds are a lot lighter compared to when this fire first started. hopefully that containment will continue. some of that smoke is and we're going to see at times some moderate air quality, a hazy-looking sky. we've seen some improvement in our air quality as well. yesterday was unhealthy for sensitive groups for parts of the east bay. so we are seeing the measure of particulate matter coming down. our temperatures are headed for the mid-60s for today. this is going to be very much like yesterday afternoon, kind of a hazy sky, but sunny, and then lookin

and we are seeing down to about a quarter of a mile in the south bay, in san jose, parts of the south county, traveling up 101, it's going to be really tough to see in some of those spots. we're seeing more of the same in the usual spots in parts of the north bay, up around novato. and then as we go into tonight, through the next couple of days, the winds are going to be picking up. so we will have this wind advisory going up in effect for much of the bay area, except for the santa clara valley, where we see the hills on either side kind of block the wind a little bit and decrease the wind speeds. but it will be windy for the next couple of days. unfortunately, here we are in january talking about a fire danger. let's go through this wind forecast. the peak winds will start to pick up by tomorrow afternoon and then continue through tomorrow evening. and then parts of the north bay, we could see those winds at, unfortunately, 50, possibly 60 miles per hour, and the rest of the bay area will have breezy winds. but we're really watching the north bay as a focus for some of the highest winds tha

but we do know that there are some other parts, including santa cruz county and further parts south that are still under that tsunami advisory tonight. that advisory as a precaution because of crashing waves, flooding streets and damage. we've been seeing all across the bay area throughout the day. the warning force bay area beaches to close, some even had to put evacuation orders in place. and this all started because of a massive explosion from an underwater volcano in the south pacific overnight, right near the island nation of tonga. >> this is the satellite image where you can see just how large that explosion became. >> kron 4 meteorologists rodriguez is here tonight to give us the very latest on the areas still impacted by those watches and warnings tonight and the changes we just saw in the last 10 minutes. yes, unfortunately, we're able to breathe a huge sigh of relief for our bay area coastline, even the east bay shoreline. >> was a part of that tsunami advisory in now we're seeing that just to our south into santa cruz, monterey county, and even at san luis obispo county and m

parts of the east bay, we barely measured anything in san josÉ and the south counties.g up and heading out, wet weather lingering. we are tracking stormranger, that's our mobile doppler radar, and we see scattered showers in the same spots, and the north bay seeing some of the showers tapering off. you could see it coming back by late morning into the early afternoon, and the evening commute is also looking dry but there will be showers coming back early tomorrow morning, and then as we go into the next couple of days, just in and out of the rain. in all, we're not looking at anything significant here, just beneficial rainfall soaking in and not causing any major problems. we are looking at an additional three quarters of an inch of rain further to the north. we have seen all of the rain we recently have seen put a dent in the red. exceptional drought there, and here in the bay area we have exceptional drought and we could see this improving especially if we keep the same weather pattern. as we look at the outlook for the rest of the month, the climate prediction center

we are in the upper 30s as well as the south county and morgan hill. upper 40s in the north bay and we are headed for the mid-50s this afternoon. you will notice the winds will start to pick up as the system comes from the north, and as we talk about that we also put in perspective the temperatures we are feeling right now. it's 8 in minneapolis, and detroit, 10 degrees. even for spots in texas, it's cold, dipping below freezing. dallas, right now 26 degrees. we will have milder weather as this spotty rain moves in. it's going to be light, and mostly for the north bay and parts of the peninsula. we will have a chance of very light rain for the east bay as well. some of our bigger rainfall measurements will be definitely in the north bay where we could get close to half an inch of rain and a quarter inch of rain or less further to the south. as far as snow, it will be a week of light snow here and there. we are still in an active weather pattern. we will see our temperatures in the inland areas in the low 60s by the middle of the week, and by the weeken

in south church, county durham, power has been off for a number of homes in this village since midnight at pigdon, near morpeth, it's the second time without electricity. she was last without power for 11 days following storm arwen in november. last time, we were off power for 11 days. we still haven't had all of the full compensation and expenses fulfilled and paid out by northern power grid, so i think we're in for situation normal — a repeat of last time. engineers from northern power grid have been working through the night to try to restore supplies. the damage caused by the storm has really been to overhead power lines and infrastructure by the wind, so it has either dislodged some of our wires which are on top of wood poles where it's caused trees to fall into lines or windblown debris to come through as well, so that has really been the points of damage that we see on our network affecting our customers. much of northern scotland bore the brunt of storm malik. a 60—year—old woman from aberdeen died after being hit by falling trees. an amber warning remains in place for much of t
