wayfair wasn't charging people in south dakota sales tax. south dakota said that wasn't fair. wayfair said they didn't have to because it didn't have physical offices there so they went to court. today the supreme court sided with south dakota. the justices said states can require companies to charge sales tax on internet purchases without a physical presence and could result in many, many more state laws and state tax on a lot more online purchases. the difference of opinion here points back to the supreme court. and decades ago. in 1967, justices ruled that mail order catalog purchases tax xemplt. in 1992, issued another ruling along the same lines and ever since brick and mortar stores, those that have physical locations, showrooms, if you will, they claimed they're at a disadvantage compared to online sellers. states said they lost billions of dollars of tax revenue here and both sides repeatedly asked congress to settle the issue. congress. but congress hasn't. today's 5-4 ruling finally answers the question. wayfair issued a statement today and said it's long supported a

i would like to point out that the wheat harvest is still growing across kansas and headed for south dakota and north dakota. these farmers in the midst of harvest are facing mother natur nature, the unknown of a thunderstorm or hailstorm back and hit as they try to harvest their grain. we have a drought in kansas but we are still hopeful we can harvest a crop could we must adopt here the attitude of our producers. optimism and ingenuity. a farmer doesn't put a seed in the ground without the faith and optimism of harvesting the crop. that's what weat should do. that means with bipartisan support we must do our job. we must pass a bill that provides those same men and women the much-needed certainty and predictability they deserve and that's the paramount issue. members have concerned.ave many havefi amendments that want to address a specific problem and they feel very strongly about it. we are here to help them. we want to help them address that in this bill but we also have to understand the tough challenges we face, farmers and ranchers and growers are in a very difficult time. we must wh
