a rare blizzard warning and also south delaware. that's where you're going to see the highest winds. you're also going to see the highest snowfall totals. at this point it looks like that's where the biggest impact will be on all of this. 9:00 tonight through 7:00 tomorrow evening. that is how long we'll be looking at this first alert and that is how long we'll be looking at these blizzard conditions around the rest of the area, we are looking at winter storm warnings. so it's just still as severe. the winds won't be quite as high in philadelphia. what we're looking at is heavy snow. potentially you could see up to a foot in some places along the jersey shore. in philadelphia, some places could exceed half a foot. we're looking at high winds. we're looking at what could be a very dangerous morning commute. those roads are completely frozen out there. we'll see a lot of blowing and drifting. what you're going to see is snow piling up and you're probably going to have a difficult morning commute. this is going to be falling throughout

it begins later on this evening the next several hours watching some of that snow move in to south delaware also into south jersey and then the heaviest likely between 4:00 a.m. to 11am. when you're watching sue serio and mining masco tomorrow morning on good day they'll be watching the height of the storm the shore six to 10-inches philadelphia four to 6-inches. and inland gusts up to 40 miles an hour down the shore up to 50 miles an hour. take look at the power outage index closer you are to the coast the better your chances of seeing some scattered power outages. so keep that in mine. the snowfall totals will break things down. one to 2-inches around the poconos. two to 4-inches for the lehigh valley. philadelphia north and west suburbs interior south jersey four to six. six to 10-inches down the shore. so once again, we're talking places like galloway, ocean city, avalon, brigantine, toms river, six to 10-inches. millville as you move toward stoke creek glassboro, voorhees, moorestown, norristown, wilmington, four to 6-inches for you. once again looking at the highest wind gusts down th

and the winds will be stronger in delaware and south jersey where blizzard conditions are a possibilities. southern delaware and south jersey will also see the heavier snowfall totals and the gustier winds are going to produce blowing snow even after the snow stops falling from the sky. that blowing snow is going to be bringing down the visibility and it's going to lead to some bitter cold coming in tonight. this is a massive storm system. you can see it moving towards new england. this storm is more than 300 miles away from us, the center of it, but it is spreading the snow into our area. it's a massive system and even though it's way offshore and going to stay offshore and move toward the east coast it's going to spread the bands of snowfall into the area. you can see those areas getting some lighter snow right now like philadelphia and some of the suburbs, that's a temporary situation. we will see it getting stronger and intensifying during the morning hours. so there's going to be plenty of shoveling to do and it's going to be difficult to stay warm on a day like this. the temperature

cape may is getting some rain, and into delaware, this is the northern edge of the system that's going to stay to the south of the day. but close enough to spread rain during the day for southern delaware and south jersey. while inland you can see clouds over philadelphia. but look at the breaks in the cloud. these are the neighborhoods that will see some sunshine. but tomorrow there's a chance we'll see some of these scattered showers in the area. they will be light, and it's not going to be an all day thing. but the clouds today, that's going to be an all day affair with temperatures in the 40s in philadelphia and warming in the suburbs. any sunshine this morning will disappear this afternoon for the suburbs. partly cloudy skies in the lee high valley. southern delaware you'll see those rain showers and dry for most neighborhoods inland for new jersey, but the chances of showers will linger at the shore with gusty winds today. take a look at the timing of the snow tomorrow and how much you can expect when i'm back in ten minutes. so far so good this morning. nothing in the way of major backup, but still

the warmer air that's to the south, that will likely stretch into delaware and south jersey with just plain rain going into the evening hours. the temperatures will be climbing before the wet weather moves in for philadelphia, 25 degrees. that's at 11:00 this morning. 20s for mt. holly and millville. here comes the first of that wet weather, and the start of snow in lancaster and in berks county. the atmosphere will continue to warm. it won't be all snow. look at that layer of ice, sleet, and freezing rain. and that's where we're going to wind up with the slippery conditions even into this afternoon. it stretches into delaware and south jersey. and then it will change over to plain old rain. the ground is still very cold. so i would expect to see some icing even at the shore. in fact, here it is, the potential ice. by 2:00, very light ice, accuming lating in pottstown, west chester, doylestown. moving into philadelphia that hour. it continues to stretch across new jersey and well into delaware, as well. not talking about a lot of ice here. it doesn't take much for slippery conditions.

south. we had a good bit of rain yesterday. a lot of hours of rain in southern delawareouth jersey with more to come. that's ahead of this weak system that is bringing the snow. and some colder air. but maybe not enough snow and not enough cold air to cause problems for tomorrow. here's the afternoon, dry with temperatures in the mid-40s. as we go through the night tonight, again a little bit of rain towards the coast but here comes that area from the west and this computer model continues to weaken that system as it approaches. temperatures above freezing across the whole area until the system moves by, then it gets cold. tomorrow night and into wednesday morning, that's the coldest part. so we are in the upper teens to the mid-20s with wind wednesday morning. so that's going to be the coldest part of this week. but nothing like minneapolis, right now it's seven there. while we're at 43 degrees. and it is going to be bitter, bitter cold. the next two days for those traveling to minneapolis, it's not too bad. but then, the super arctic air comes and by super bowl sunday,
