. >> it is flat-out hazardous around the south end of lake tahoe right now, which is where it has been for the last couple days. this is the current air-quality map, unhealthy air quality for the northern half of tahoe basin but very unhealthy and even hazardous quality levels because it is just directly downwind from all of the smoke being produced by that fire. a little haze on the horizon but nothing too bad. it looks like our air quality will deteriorate, we are tracking the smoke a little bit. doesn't look like that will be a major factor, tomorrow's air quality is similar to today's but a lot more smoke headed toward the bay area by friday. we will focus on just the surface level smoke and its impact on our air quality coming up . >> thank you. >>> new at 5, a potentially dire situation developing in san jose police department. there are as many as 125 staffers who are refusing to get vaccinated. and if they don't, the city says they will lose their jobs. kpix 5's reports many are threatening to leave the already understaffed department. >> reporter: we don't know for sure exactl

it's going to be low to mid 60s with highs around the south end of the bay and down the peninsula farther into the 80s as you head into the santa clara valley. you go from 86 in san jose to 96 around morgan hill. for the tri-valley temp smack in the middle portion of the 90s. more triple digit readings around fairfield, antioch and brentwood, the usual hot spots. around the bay, near average for san francisco. slightly above average for open and the east bay with temps back in the 70s, with mostly 80s for the northbay. another one of the hotspots at 90 degrees. the real heat further north in the mendocino county and lake county, topping 100 degrees in a number of locations including ukiah and lake more. temperatures don't change much as we had through the weekend and there is a bit of a cooldown that kicks in by monday and tuesday of next week. it will be more noticeable where the temp smack are hottest for the next few days so you will actually get some relief by the time early next week rolls around. hottest days inland in the east bay are going to be tomorrow with more heat anticipated
