he really planted his flag here in south florida. look at the african-american vote. it will put him over the top in a big way. >> he worked but hi didn't spend. he was vastly out spent by his opponents. how important is money now that he's really in the big seat. >> money is crucial in florida. we're not one state. we're ten states. we have ten media markets. to advertise statewide it will probably take about $3 million a week to run a saturation tv campaign. these have to raise massive amounts of money in order to benefit -- nard to pay for tin the tv ads that every one needs to see. he stitched together all of these coalitions, it was the secret sauce or spices that enabled andrew gillum to come out on top. can he repeat that in november? one thing you have to understand about the democrats in the state is they under perform in midterm elections. even though the democrats out register republicans by two percentage points in florida -- >> why is that? >> that's a great question. i need to say this dip employeematically. when you look at voters performance by race an

south florida in particular has a good understanding of rising water levels and things like that. rate in florida is a little lower than the national average, 3.8%. so how do you sell yourself here? >> i'll tell you, the unemployment rate doesn't tell the whole story. the fact is that in my state, under rick scott, 44% of the people, working people in my state say they cannot make ends meet at the end of the month. many of them are working harder than ever and still can't pull down a wage where they can take care of themselves and their families. that unemployment number doesn't surprise me. what might surprise some is that many people are working two or three jobs in order to make ends meet. that's not my vision of a good robust economy. in this state we have algae blooms flowing out of the east and west side of this state due to the dereliction of duty on behalf of our governor and the republican leadership. and we've also obviously got to tend to the real issues around school safety and gun safety. i know a little bit about it, having been sued by the nra and the gun lobby twic

i covered the pulse shooting in orlando and the parkland shooting in south florida, and the police have to be very careful not to jump to conclusions, and i will tell you that the jacksonville sheriff's office and the fire department here as well as the sister partner agencies train quite often for this worst case scenario. they have told me many times personally, you know, it is only a matter of time until unfortunately a tragedy like this happens. so that is why you have the heavily armed officer s wis wit swat team gear and tactical rifles walking around here. they are clearing every building, every room to see exactly what happened, because just because we are hearing from the police that there is one shooter dead it does not mean that there are not more threats or people holed out. so a lot more of the witnesses are kept inside of the sterile quarantined areas as they are waiting to be cleared from the police. >> and so, vic, 11 injured and four dead, and the suspect is dead. do we know how he died? >> we don't have any details about the suspect. police are going to be very careful
