we have, let's see, happy ducks, we've got happy iguanas here in south florida.one else is not. we're just waiting for the sunshine to come back, and unfortunately, we are going to have to wait another day. we are waterlogged here. as you saw, some folks are getting home by kayaks. this is the second no-name storm we have been dealing with over the last couple of years. take a look at some of the numbers. 12 to as high as 20 inches of rainfall have fallen over the last couple of days. just to put that in perspective, that's about three months' worth of rainfall here across south florida. you know, we always talk about the atmospheric river over california, well, we have our own here that has been moving through. we have been tapping into the tropics, and it has just been relentless rain, tropical rains, funneled right over south florida, and that is going to continue for at least one more day. in fact, additional accumulation of perhaps 2-4 inches, which on top of what we have already had is going to make things a lot worse. also, following this, severe weather m

we saw over a foot of rain in some spots across south florida yesterday. unfortunately, we do have the potential to do that all again. any additional rain is going to be problematic. hence the reason for the flood watches for 7 million people. most of the heavy rain is sitting south into the parts of the florida straits right now. the keys seeing additional rainfall and a little rain working through parts of the west coast of south florida. through the day today where he' go we're going to see another push of that tropical moisture. we see things slow down a little bit, but still locally-heavy downpours will be a threat. any additional rainfall will be problematic. we'll see maybe another 5 to 10 inches in some of these spots. we'll be watching that. a couple of things to watch as far as the tropics are concerned. one area we're going to watch, the bay of coampeche. triple dig. 96 in kansas city. mid-90s for denver. and that's a look at your forecast, frances, back to you. >>> coming up, a popular cookie dough recalled over salmonella concerns. >>> but fir

after widespread flooding in south florida, the conditions there are improving.e locations picked up double digit rain. some places picked up more than 2 feet of rain. but more scattered in nature, with the storms now, and no one particular spot expected to get more than 1 or 2 inches of rain, so that should minimize the flood risk from this point going forward. but we are two weeks into hurricane season, no named storms yet, but an area to watch here in the western gulf of mexico. with 50% odds of actually forming into a tropical cyclone over the next seven days. whether it gets the name alberto or not, it is going to bring very significant rain to louisiana or texas, with up to 5-8 inches of rain in the forecast. the other big story, heat is building. high-ressure holding strong in the eastern united states. temperatures by monday in the upper 90s in places like detroit, cincinnati, chicago, 96, and, of course, very dangerous heat index values, as well, norah, with many spots topping 100. >> norah: mike bettes, thanks. breaking news out of texas tonight, a judg
