here. at the beginning of the river and floating down, the market further south was here. and with the railroad, that actually increased our agricultural trade because farmers could get produce to market. the development of the area, 1859, the railroad actually built a train depot on this side, wanting to connect to the markets west of you. chicago was big in that day. trains would come to this area, and they would have to stop here, uncouple all of the trains, with them on a car ferry. this area was known as the rapids, so imagine a very fast currents, and this was all freight, heavy carts, crossing the area one by one. it took a long time to get the trains below across. the market was that important, that they did that. the railroad traffic started increasing incredibly. to the point where they actually built a tunnel underneath the st. clair river. it connected both canada and america in 1891. it is still in operation today, but there is a second tunnel. building an international bridge process started in 1927. this was after detroit had opened its ambassador bridge in

philadelphia police say that car was going south here on broad street, was speeding, lost control afterhitting the center median, hit two parked cars just on the other side of the road from where i am. the vehicle ended up in the middle of brad street and then burst into flames. take a look at that video once again. that was right after that car crash. you can see one officer on scene described it as a fireball. this happened just after midnight. one of the officers from the 39th district happened to be driving down broad at the same time. he saw the crash right after it happened. at that point he was just the engine that was on fire. philadelphia police say their officer did what had to be done and rescued that driver. >> he was able to open the door and he began to pull the driver of the vehicle who was completely unconscious. the officer was pulling hem out of the vehicle. as he was pulling him out of the vehicle, the flames were starting to grow. so the officer was able to pull the 47-year-old driver out of the vehicle. >> reporter: this is what the burned out car looked like right
