it's actually here in south jersey.hat's where when it's all said and done we're going to see the heaviest amounts. if you go back up here toward say allentown and you get out here toward lehigh valley and berks county, you're starting to see things taper off. so that's good news if you want to dry out, but we do have a little bit more on the way. not the heavy, heavy rain west of the metro area, though. so that's good news there. let's take a look at what's going on from norristown down through philadelphia. that's where we're seeing some scattered showers, heavier pockets of rain. also from chester to woolrich, we're seeing some heavier rain. we head into south jersey, and that's where you see from wince low to galloway, the swath of heavy rain. this is likely going to dump another inch or two of rain before we start to see things kind of taper off this evening. all the way down toward cape may where you've already seen a pretty good downpour, now things are starting to quiet down there. if we look at the big picture,

that is precipitation, in the form of snow, and it will be steady a long i-95 corridor, interior south jersey points to the north and west but mixed precipitation, to the south ande. by 8:00 o'clock tuesday morning i stopped it here because we have got that snow line in philadelphia, but just to the south, we have got some mixed precipitation taking over areas in south jersey and delaware but it stays all snow a heavy wet snow to the north and west. we will get that transition, from mixed precipitation back over to snow, at 3:30 on tuesday afternoon, and then eventually this storm system will pull away into tuesday evening. as far as the snow, we are expecting, one to 2 inches down in cape may because we will have limited snowfall with that mixed precipitation moving on through, two to four for atlantic, cumberland counties and areas to the south of dover, four to 8 inches for interior south jersey, along i-95 metro area and philadelphia, 20812 inches of snow, with lancaster reading, allentown up to the poconos could find 12 to 16 inches of snow. as i mention sod spots getting a little higher

even south jersey getting into the action. tremendous amounts of moisture farther to the south. so we're just getting started with this thing. so the snow gets heavier by 3:00 a.m. 3:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., that's the heaviest snow. the most hazardous travel, the time to stay off the roads especial especially. on tuesday afternoon, the snow gradually tapers off. on wednesday morning, snow showers. so this isn't a long-lasting storm, but a powerful one. as we go through the night tonight, dark blue indicating the heavy, accumulating snow, but warm air is coming up from the south, first changing the snow to sleet and then to rain. these are potential thunderstorms at 6:00 a.m. this is so heavy there may be thunder snow, and even thunder sleet by 8:00 a.m. in parts of the area. just a nasty, nasty start to the day. now, meteorologist tammy sousa has more on how much snow to expect. >> prepare for the worst and pray for the best. that's what my grandfather said to me growing up and i think that's what we have to do. this is where we potentially see it the worst where you see the shad

so in effect for large portion of the delaware valley including parts of south jersey, berks county, lehigh valley up into the poconos as winter weather advisory, storm scan3 showing us that snow is moving on in. it has been snowing in the poconos for the last several hours, starting to push now into the lehigh valley. you can see, even some heavier pockets of snow in and around lehigh up into chestnut hill. jim thorpe seeing flakes coming down, berks county, reading, might be dealing with light rent which mix, will quickly transition over to all snow for you. northwest suburbs, that leading edge of snowfall is fast approaching, you're going start to see the flakes flying in one to two hours, this very uniform area of snowfall will continue to move its way eastbound, looking very organized in nature, and plan for snow today in your day planner, snow coming down heavy at times, in the 9:00 hour. i think we start to see some precipitation in and around the i95 corridor around 7:00. temperatures will be dropping through the day today, meisha, so actually dealing with some of our warmest

at 4:00 a.m., the sleet line is down in south jersey. you watch this advance to the i-95 corridor at 9:30. that will mix in with the snow and reduced snowfall totals around i-95. you see the heavy rain in south jersey, some of the overnight models suggesting the low hugs the coast a little bit and that brings in the warmer air and allows mixing along i-95. it's a colder storm as an area of low pressure. we'll have to watch that very closely to see where the sleet line mixes in. at 5:00 it's pulling out of here. late tonight in the overnight hours, around midnight. the first flakes start to fall. from dawn through midday we'll see the steadiest, the heaviest snow the strongest winds. the height of the storm from the wee hours in the morning to tuesday around. how much are we expecting, 1 to 2 in the extreme coastal areas, 2 to 4, dover, millville, atlantic city. 4 to 8 in gloucester, camden, cumberland county. 8 to 12 in the i-95 corridor. you're not getting any mixing in the lehigh valley. you could see mixing and sleet that's why we exp
