but take a look at south lake tahoe.re noticing widespread light rain there, even extending as far north into donner summit. carson city kirkwood as well. topaz lake finally clearing out and drying out from that severe weather. it's been pretty active all day today. bear valley. you do have a cell just to your north. but fortunately not seeing the threat of thunder and lightning because we had been tracking that all day long. but we're at not out of the woods just yet because instead of that wet lightning that we're used to seeing. we could see dry lightning when all is said and done and it clears up tonight, even through sunday morning. we could actually have some dangerous fire conditions. and that is why the national weather service has issued a fire danger concern warning with that red flag warning going into effect in less than an hour from now at 11 o'clock tonight through 11 o'clock sunday morning so we could still see some dry lightning with any pop-up thunderstorms that do form winds at 40 miles per hour less. i

i can show you the monsoonal moisture that's been lingering up in the lake tahoe area, south lake tahoemainly down towards a mammoth that will continue again tomorrow and we're fortunate again with a lot of lightning strikes from that. they're pretty wet systems. they're putting down a lot of rain in some cases, so that's certainly helping the forecast for them. in san francisco. there's the clouds and drizzle in the morning. kind of like this morning, even in oakland, san francisco ends up at about 64 65 degrees by the ballpark might go 65. there's the fog footprint for the morning. and it was just like like, looks like today, basically, which will be tomorrow and then that really it goes right through the weekend like this, so the pattern stays, and we're fortunate that again. we're missing out on the massive heat the massive red flag warnings in the massive bad air quality we're seeing in some regions of the state and portions of the country, so there's the five day forecast the top tier numbers. look at it their all. below 90. that's good. i will see you back here tomorrow night. go

as you head towards south lake tahoe, pop-up showers and thunderstorms, but temperature wise lookingd. you want to make sure you're able to get weather alerts if you'll be out hiking or on the lake. you will be able to get somewhere inside in case one of those thunderstorms do come close to you. our temperatures look good through sunday there. warm in paso roebls, low 90s for today and tomorrow, 89 the high on sunday. and then as we're checking out our destination forecast for spots like stinson beach, we'll see the high temperature reaching into the low 70s today and upper 60s for saturday and sunday. half moon bay keeping it cool there with mid 60s and monterey in the mid 60s as well. at times the fog rolling in but looks like we'll see some clearing. looking good and we'll get a look at our microclimates for today that's coming up. mike, your traffic maps, are they still all green? >> pretty much. a little bit of change we expect over here. look at that, one yellow -- that means a little slowing there as folks make a transition to fewer lanes. smooth drive out of the altamont pass

jeannie stock currently down about 6% on trading today in alpine county, south of lake tahoe. the tamarack fire has burned more than 23,000 acres. it forced hundreds of people to evacuate their homes in rural communities, including mark louisville, grover hot springs and alpine village. the flames are tearing through rugged, hard to reach areas where there are one lane roadways and steep hillsides, erratic winds and temperatures in the nineties expected to continue through the week. 500 firefighters from california and nevada are battling the fire this afternoon. noon. the bootleg fire in southern oregon is now at 300,000 acres, the largest current wildfire in the united states. today we did learn officials evacuated a wildlife research station. the bootleg fire is burning right near the california state line and smoke from that wildfire can now be seen from more than 100 miles away. 160 homes and structures have been destroyed. containment is at 25% red flag warnings in the bay area were lifted early this morning after some fire departments were put on high alert for the thre

it started in south lake tahoe and it spread into nevada.e type of horrible temperatures that would fuel the fires. i can't imagine how bad it would be if we were seeing hotter temperatures? >> everything is so bone dry out there. we have mon soonal moisture. we could get lightning spark fires in the next 24 hours. let's get you into the microclimate forecast. we are going to start off with the big change after weeks and weeks on end of sunshine, you can see, well, we do have the cloud cover moving overhead for most of us. it's an overcast sky. that's the mon soonal moisture. cloud tops moving through the state. 86 degrees and we'll drop through some 70s. once we hit 7 and 8:00. let's show you what we're seeing with this area of high pressure. the clockwise circulation around this. that's what's happening to push up the monsoonal moisture. some thunderstorms and also the heat. we have a little system off to the house andckse situation is continuing the conveyor belt effect to funnel this activity right through the state. so a closer look at

that very violet purp tlel is very unhealthy air around south lake tahoe, blue canyon.'ll notice some oranges and yellows. we're looking at some poor air quality in that region. here locally, fortunately, even though we're seeing some haze in the upper parts of the atmosphere, we do have good to moderate air quality in the bay area. as we head into tonight, heaviest concentration of smoke is going to remain right around some of those larger fires burning in the northern california and sierra nevada area. sunday morning, notice those pinks. that's heavier smoke, starts to move in our direction as the wind changes direction. and on monday, it looks like in the upper layers of the atmosphere, we're gonna start to see some thicker smoke. the good thing is though, right now it looks like down near the surface. we're not expecting heavy smoke just yet. but that doesn't mean it's not going to happen. we'll keep you posted as we get closer. here's a look at the air quality forecast for the next four days. good to moderate here locally. once again, watching for potential smoke i

not impacting air quality except around south lake, tahoe and reading. air quality looking good. another drizzle storm. expected on the coast as we head towards tomorrow morning. upper 50s to start the day. highs monday and tuesday, likely to be the coolest days of the week. numbers close to 80 around downtown san jose. mid 80s for morgan hill. mid 80s tomorrow, upper 80s around brentwood. oakland, low 70s. san francisco, numbers in the mid 60s for now. we will likely see 70s by this time next weekend as things warm up. in the north bay, numbers in the 70s and orward to friday. the numbers inland a lot of 90s starting to show up in the valley. what's going to happen, instead of the ocean air conditioning, we will see high pressure build and expand and reach its peak around the middle part of next weekend, setting up across central and southern california. over 110 degrees likely for south of sacramento, down towards fresno. the pattern for the bay area. ten-day outlook, we will see numbers in the mid 90s and higher for five days. that's from thursday to the beginning of next week

it's south of lake tahoe. so far this has burned about 25,000 acres. hundreds of people are under mandatory evacuation orders, this video taken between 2:00 and 3:30. it is still raging and has been all weekend. this is from hawkins peak. it is in a remote area. we know at least six buildings have burned and firefighters are working to save homes in marklyville and sierra pines, a lot of small communities. part of the pacific crest trail is closed as well so we will get a better number from firefighters on what they're dealing with and what they have been facing overnight once the sun comes up. michelle. >>> the other big fire we have been keeping an eye on, dixie fire is now threatening two communities about 30 miles north of paradise. fire crews are ordering new mandatory evacuations for jones ville and phil brook in butte county. a cal fire strike team is battling the fire. last word, the fire grew to more than 15,000 acres and is now 15% contained. >>> several homes in lake county burned over the weekend. press democrat reports a fire started in on

they took a dip in the beach in south lake tahoe. time in recent days that we've seen bears show up at the beach. people fishing in parts of utah will have no problem reeling them in. 200 lakes in utah have just been stocked with fish dropped from above. the planes can drop 35,000 fish in a single flight. but some lakes could not be stocked because of extreme drought conditions. >>> we turn now to california and a plane crashing right into the living room of a house. this morning, federal investigators are looking into what caused a plane to crash into this home in monterey. >> we have a potential aircraft down south of monterey. >> reporter: the twin engine cessna took off from monterey regional airport and just minutes into the flight something went wrong. air traffic control tried to contact the pilot. >> low altitude alert. maintain 5,000. are you experiencing an in-flight emergency? >> reporter: moments later the plane crashing just two miles from the airport. >> now a loud explosion has been heard. not sure if that's the impact

thunderstorms and lightning confined to the southern sierra and not far from the tamarack fire to the south of lake tahoe but much of the moisture from south to north weakening on approach. it did drop showers around king city but these are the clouds approaching from the south that for now have no history of producing any lightning. short term that is good news. our focus will be this area of moisture offshore. that lifts up toward the bay area later tonight which could increase the chances of seeing again the showers that may generate lightning but without a lot of rain. the highest likelihood around the santa cruz mountains and diablo range essentially areas exceptionally dry. these are the higher elevations of the bay area now about 5:00 on monday with red flag warnings in effect through most of the day tomorrow and then conditions will be cooling and the thunder chances heading off to the east. we'll have a closer look at your monday forecast hour by hour and a look at cooling changes ahead in the forecast coming up in about 12 minutes. >> thank you. >>> our local fire departments have been here bef
