up into south lake tahoe. they are forecasting to see anywhere from 5 to 9 feet of snow anywhere from strawberry up into echo summit. it's worth noting the it's not worth hassle or the stress or the loss of potential life getting into conditions like this. you can get stuck on the roads. there's spinouts possible. not a lot of help with strong storms like this moving through when you are in the middle of the storm itself. of course afterwards, plenty. but as we see forecasted models anywhere up to around 12 feet high above 5,000 feet, this is not a joke of a storm. we have not seen the national weather service issue a blizzard warning in quite some time and that's the case for us this weekend. so i feel like we stressed it enough. this is not the weekend to head up to the sierra. so if you are staying local here in the bay area, i want to show here in the bay area as the snow falls up where ashley is at. the rain is fall back here in the bay area. as we wake up this morning and head out the door. let's take a

this was south lake tahoe area on highway 50. weather service says snow is accumulating between eight to 14 inches and chain controls are in effect. what a hectic weekend up there. this is one of the strongest storms we have seen impact the sierra in sometime. it impacted us in the bay area too. we actually saw over an inch and a half in areas ladies and gentlemen san francisco areas. we are still adding to the numbers in areas like santa rosa and petaluma. as we wake up, it is looking pretty similar on first alert doppler with some active conditions. in the sierra they are under a winter storm warning that can last until wednesday. the bulk of the storm is passed but donner pass can see an additional eight inches of snow, blue canyon seeing closer to five inches. it is not that active currently but they are dealing recovery after the storm impacted them throughout this weekend. in the bay we got our fair splash of showers too yesterday all the way into early morning hours today. we are watching on shore showers form closer to oa

south lake tahoe 74. even down to colfax with a foot of snow is being forecast and the wind. look at the wind projections for tonight. kirkwood, 56, out of the southwest. echo lake, 51, south lake tahoe 48. so you combine that with the snow and the wind. that's why you're going to have some serious issues there trying to make any any headway, if you will. so that's why they're advising you don't go i mean, if you're already up there, congratulations. but don't do anything until probably maybe sunday to start to improve a little bit here. but the wind and the snow will make for a tough, tough go here. as far as local snow, our best bet would probably be around 2000ft or 2500ft. saturday evening. sunday. the key will be will there be enough moisture? i don't think it will make it down to 1500ft. maybe a rain and snow mix. extremely cold air though, is on the way. that doesn't come in until friday or excuse me, until saturday. what's happening now is you're seeing enhancement. the jet stream is punching in, and this low will drive in. so rainfall rates are going to pick up. maybe

29 degrees in south lake tahoe, 30 in tracking where you can see.e've got a little bit of a mix of snow and rain that's coming down. here's the good news of all of that is that we have really caught up with our snowpack. now, the latest numbers showing we're at 111% of normal in the northern sierra, 104 in the central sierra and 94%, the southern tier. that's a big difference from before this storm. temperatures right now across the state reflecting that we're a little cool. some of the fair that rolled in la about 63 degrees. fresno at 60 around the bay where in the 50's we are sitting between 2 low pressure systems. this one is ultimately going to track to the south. but before it does, it will lead things rather unsettled for us. you can see that we do have a little bit of a shower that rolled across parts of the north bay today. most of this not a big deal, but certainly if you are caught in one of these little showers, you might notice that the roads are a little slick just want to be careful if you had a cross the next couple of hours. if you'
